It depends on our needs. Lee just wants to play. Have heard if we take two more OL's he goes to the DL. On one of these other sites, they have him on Offense.

I meant to put OT in parenthesis when drawing this up. Thanks for the reminder.

Edited to say, probably OL now for Lee.

Thanks, mate. Will keep hitting the refresh every 10 minutes or so looking for your updates. Greatly appreciated.

Enjoyed watching the film at rr.com on QB Jay Jones. He throws an accurate deep ball and throws it seemingly effortlessly with some power. The 2nd play on the film shows him releasing from around his own 40 and the catch being made around the 5 yd line. That's 55 yds in the air and it looked like he didn't really "throw himself out" by any means to chuck it that far.

Nice.

I had trouble getting back to the site just now. I guess it is the national site that be very busy.

Rivals has most of the players tagged as signed now on the list, still waiting on the west coast.

Jay Jones

Position: Quarterback

Committed: Jan. 16

Meet Georgia Tech signee Jay Jones photo
HYOSUB SHIN / HSHIN@AJC.COM
Height, weight: 6-foot-1, 190 pounds

High school: McAdory High School (Ala.)

What to know: Chose Georgia Tech over Auburn

Jones on why he chose Tech: “I got with a few of the redshirted guys and a few of the guys that were already down there and I could just tell we’ve got something big coming down there.”

Jones on one of his goals for his time with the Yellow Jackets: “I just really want to do something that people want to be a part of. A lot of people go where something’s already established. I really want to make Tech something.”

Jones on his relationship with Tech coaches: “Coach (Paul) Johnson, he’s very cool, he’s a cool coach. He’s a very cool, laid-back coach. Coach (Bryan) Cook, we both get along because both of us don’t like to talk on the phone. We’re texters.”

Jair Anderson

Position: Athlete (wide receiver, cornerback)

Committed: Dec. 26

HYOSUB SHIN / HSHIN@AJC.COM
Height, weight: 6-foot-1, 185 pounds

High school: Northview High School

What to know: Chose Georgia Tech over Louisville and Illinois. Recruited to play wide receiver for the Yellow Jackets, according to Northview coach Chad Davenport.

Davenport on Anderson’s athletic talent: “That’s probably the best thing about him right now is that he’s extremely athletic, an extremely hard worker, works hard at getting better every day. … He passes the test first. He’s 6-foot-1, about 190 pounds and can run and jump, so he fits a lot of things that college coaches like. … You always love to have one like him every year because they’re good football players, they’re also good people to be around. You don’t have to him causing you problems or what they’re doing away from you and that was the case with him.”

Davenport on Anderson being recruited as an athlete: “He played everything for us. I think they were recruiting him as an athlete, but they’re going to start him off at wide receiver, and I feel like that’s going to be good for him to work at that position. In the next couple of years, he’s going to be the guy that for what they like to do, have that receiver who can hit the long-bomb for them. With his speed and athletic ability, that’s really what they’re doing. … I think that’s what he’s going to be for them.”

Davenport on why Anderson chose Tech: “I think ultimately it comes down to the long recruiting process. There’s lots of things that appear to be real and then there’s things that are real. … I think throughout it all, Georgia Tech was with him, when they offered him last summer, at their camp, they never wavered on it. It was never a conditional offer. It was legit. It was ‘we want you as a priority’ and I think ultimately, what convinced him. The coaches were here, present and in constant communication. … I think in the end, he kind of saw that Georgia Tech was with him from day one, they never wavered, and he liked that.”

Jalen Camp

Position: Wide receiver

Committed: Dec. 9

Meet Georgia Tech signee Jalen Camp photo
HYOSUB SHIN / HSHIN@AJC.COM
Height, weight: 6-foot-2, 210 pounds

High school: South Forsyth

What to know: Committed to Liberty University in June.

South Forsyth High School coach Jeff Arnette on what sets Camp apart from other athletes: “I think as much as anything, his work ethic on the practice field and in the weight room were second to none. He did whatever he could to get better every single day. I think that’s what made him so special.”

Arnette on Camp’s potential: “I don’t even think we’ve scratched the surface of what he can do, what he can be. Of course, he was a great player for us. I think he’ll continue to get better and better and that he’ll shine at Georgia Tech.”

Arnette on why Camp chose Georgia Tech: “One, Georgia Tech is a great academic school, but two, it’s got great football. They play in the ACC, and as he had an incredible senior year, he got more and more attention and when the opportunity to go to Georgia Tech came up, he was excited about it. His family was excited. And he decided to make that move.”

Arnette on who Camp is beyond the football field: “He’s a great kid. He’s not only a great football player, he’s an even better kid, and I think that’s what makes him special. He has great character, and his work ethic is just unbelievable. He’s a great kid, fun to be around, and we’re going to miss him here at South.”

Anyone find it funny that someone would say CPJ is a laid back coach ? Guess he ain't seem the pictures GTJT622 has put on here from time to time.

The offensive linemen in particular really love Admiral Johnson's laid back nature...

...enjoy how playful and nurturing he is during your time at Tech. It is his patience and laid back nature that leads many to label him as a "players coach".

Defense:

DT-Brandon Adams
-Chris Martin
-Desmond Branch(SDE, also).

SDE-Jordan Woods
-Jahaziel Lee(OT, also).

OLB-Emanuel Bridges(ILB, also).
-Jacob Brashear

SS-Jarett Cole

CB-Ajani Kerr

I give all of these guys at least 10 1/2 stars. The offensive guys - who I find offensive - are 7 1/2 stars at best. If they switch over to defense, I'll bump them up to 10 1/2 stars minimum.

Per Ken S.(AJC):

Updates coming from Georgia Tech signing day. All 18 members of the class have signed.

10:07 a.m. QB Lucas Johnson from San Diego.

First California signee since safety Brandon Leslie in the 2008 class. Quarterbacks and B-backs coach Bryan Cook said he was connected with Johnson when coach Paul Johnson suggested that he expand the quarterback search to a national scope.

Cook: “His skillset, he’s a kid that can run it, throw it, do all of the above.”

10:04 a.m. OL Jahaziel Lee from Ponchatoula, La.

Quarterbacks and B-backs coach Bryan Cook: “He’s athletic. When you watch him move, whether it’s on the basketball court or on the football field, he’s got great feet and he plays with a lot of energy.”

Converting from defensive line.

9:57 a.m. CB Ajani Kerr from McEachern High

Kerr was the last player offered in the class. Linebackers coach Andy McCollum said that when he visited with a rival school of McEachern’s, the head coach and a coordinator asked McCollum if Tech was recruiting Kerr. He said yes.

McCollum: “They said, ‘Well, we’re going to tell you this. He’s the best player on their defense.”

9:47 a.m. DE Jordan Woods from Ocala, Fla.

Rivals four-star prospect picked Tech over Tennessee and Miami.

Said A-backs coach Lamar Owens: “I think he really bought into it what we were selling here at Georgia Tech about ATL – athletics, tradition, life after football.”

9:45 a.m. OL Parker Braun from Hallsville, Texas

Offensive line coach Mike Sewak said that Braun’s high-school coach told him that he had never had a player who practiced with the intensity that Braun did.

9:38 a.m. QB Jay Jones from McCalla, Ala.

Defensive line coach Mike Pelton: “He’s just a dynamic athlete.”

Pelton said that quarterbacks and B-backs coach Bryan Cook was “very, very instrumental” in selling Jones on playing quarterback in the Tech offense. Other schools, such as Auburn and Alabama, were interested in him at other positions.

9:32 a.m. AB Xavier Gantt (Buford High) and LB Jacob Brashear (Dacula)

Defensive coordinator Ted Roof on Brashear: “Identified him early. He had a strong interest in us. We pulled the trigger on him and he pulled the trigger on us.”

Roof said a “very prominent SEC school” told Gantt that it would continue to recruit him after he had committed to Tech. (Gantt was the first commit of the class)

Roof: “He said, ‘You can do whatever you want, but I’m going to Georgia Tech.'”

9:22 a.m. WR Stephen Dolphus from Westside-Macon High.

Wide receivers coach Buzz Preston on Dolphus: “He’s very angular like Stephen (Hill), tall, a lot of leg and really athletic.”

9:17 a.m. WRs Jair Hawkins-Anderson from Northview High and Jalen Camp from South Forsyth High.

Quarterbacks and B-backs coach Bryan Cook recruited both. Hawkins-Anderson has legitimate 4.4 speed in the 40 and might be the fastest wide receiver on the team.

Cook on Camp: “He’s a physical kid who doesn’t need to fill out. He should be able to step into his cleats in August and hopefully maybe help us (this season).”

9:07 a.m. DT Chris Martin from Brentwood, Tenn.

Linebackers coach Andy McCollum on Adams: “I really feel like we’re getting a real good player. You need good players upfront who can their feet and he can do that. Very powerful.”

9:04 a.m. OL Kenny Cooper from Sonoraville.

Linebackers coach Andy McCollum: “He’s athletic and he’s tough.”

9:00 a.m. Early enrollees DL Desmond Branch, RB Dedrick Mills, LB Emanuel Bridges and QB Jaylend Ratliffe have been announced. The first high school signees are DT Chris Martin and DB Jarett Cole.

Defensive coordinator Ted Roof said of Cole that he is the first recruit who wanted to help in recruiting other prospects however he could to help make the team the best it could, even if it meant recruiting players who would challenge him on the depth chart.

Roof on Martin: “Great motor, good first step, good ball get-off. We expect him to be a guy that has a chance to make sacks and tackles for losses and things like that.”

Coaching scorecard:
5 Bryan Cook
4 Ted Roof
3 Andy McCollum
2 Mike Sewak
2 Buzz Preston
1 Mike Pelton
1 Lamar Owens

FWIW-For the Walk-on athletes, CTR, CAM would be the leaders if charted.
