G.T. Football Recruiting, 2017, (24).

He gets 11 1/2 stars for being a defender. Add 1/2 star because it's Friday. 12 stars. Maybe 13 after a few more Bud Lights.

Has so many P5 offers, decision making is going to be a difficult process. Hard to eliminate using metaphors in describing this true "student athlete" who is across the country in Oregon, but we are fully involved....

quite a number of players seem to be targeting the first week of July as their decision time. I guess that coincides with the first practice dates of their final HS year.

From Phil Kornblut...
Gentry Bonds, DB has Ga. Tech in his top five.

RB Jalen Holston (5-11 200) of Stockbridge, GA came thru USC's camps earlier this month and earned an offer from Will Muschamp. Holston said the Gamecocks will get considerable consideration. "I like how they are really close to my family. I'm up in Columbia a lot so being there would be great for my family. I think I would fit perfect in their offense. They need a running back bad and I think I would be the guy to carry the load for them. They like my size , vision, ability to break tackles, the speed I have to be as big as I am, and how I'm a north and south runner." Holston also has offers from Duke, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Mississippi State, NC State, West Virginia and Vanderbilt. He also camped at Virginia Tech, Duke and Georgia. He rushed for 1503 yards last season.

DB Latheron Rogers-Anderson of Ridge View was one of the prospects competing at the satellite camp at his school Friday and he feels he performed well in front of the coaches including USC's Travaris Robinson. "I did great. The coaches told me they loved seeing me. TRob told me he loves my work ethic and how I compete. He wasn't expecting for me to be able to guard on the outside because I'm a safety but he said I passed every test and looked great, so hopefully the offer will come. I might have offers coming later this weekend from the schools who watched me today." Some of his current offers are Citadel, Old Dominion, Charleston Southern, Colorado State, Cincinnati and Appalachian State. Wake Forest and Georgia Tech reached out to him on Friday.

Jordyn Peters, getting ready to take an ACC tour which involves Tech, before school starts back up and the senior season for him.

Taking a patient approach when it comes to selecting his landing spot on the college level, but recently went ahead and locked in a visit with Rich Rodriquez and Arizona for July 11-12. Georgia Tech is also a school that will likely receive a visit before the end of summer.
McNeal talks about the transition he's made to the slot, the significant interest he has in the Wildcats and Yellow Jackets.

5'10 170. Over 20 major offers.

Cousin of Clemson, Atl. Falcon, Grady Jarrett.....

Nick Lancaster is our most recent Play of the Day winner. The Class of ’17 linebacker showed off his impressive football instincts and quickly reacted to a short pass out in the flat. Before the receiver could make a move, the fleet-footed linebacker was already drilling him backward for a punishing tackle.

The Johns Creek rising senior has been working hard this offseason and spoke about his goal for this upcoming season.

“My goal for next season is to win the 6A State Title and be named to 1st team all state and all region.”

Those are lofty goals, but the senior linebacker has been working hard this offseason to improve his game. He believes that he could help a team in a number of ways at the next level.

“My biggest strength I feel like is how quick I can explode off the ball, my swim moves, and not being afraid to knock somebody’s head off.”

Standing at around 6’2″, Lancaster could easily pack on more weight to his frame. It is an area he is dedicated on improving.

“I think honestly I need to improve on my weight. Right now, I weigh 202 lbs and I’m working on that.” Lancaster also believes his pass coverage could improve. “I need a better pass drop. I need to really focus on my fundamentals and playing coverage at outside linebacker, it is a position where pass coverage is important.”

Lancaster has been hearing from a number of colleges so far, and it looks like one stands out above the rest.

“I’ve been hearing from a lot of schools but my top ones are Alabama A&M, Army, Ball State, Marshall, Middle Tennessee, Marist, and Clemson, but for me, I want to play for Marshall. I love the program.”

The hard-hitting senior’s favorite position is playing out in space at a hybrid outside linebacker/rover type position. He models his game after a few family members.

“I model my game after my older brother Mark Lancaster a lot. Just the way he grinds and grinds and is constantly working to get better, that is a motor to me. Also watching my cousin Grady Jarrett get to where he is now is a big-time impact to me. Growing up in Rockdale isn’t easy, but to make it to the NFL is just ‘wow’ to me.”

Lancaster spoke about where has visited thus far this offseason. “I’ve visited Ga State and Southern, Clemson, Ga Tech, Kennesaw, and Mercer.”

Do I need to raise the limit on my credit card you overuse...woops, I meant use?

Naaaah. The ACC and NCAA have proven they don't care. They have bigger things to worry about like placing the Wyoming School for Nuns' Synchronized Swim program on probation for recruiting violations.

Hoping we can close fast on some of our bigger targets in the next month or so before fall practice starts. This is a big recruiting year, and we have a lot of upperclassman OL that need to be restocked. We've been recruiting well for the D, and picked up some nice athletes for O last year as well. Just need more big uglies.

Also, I don't think we will ever close on many of the top players early? not like some schools getting 20-25 before September. Coach Johnson's insistence on finishing up your visits before you decide keeps some players from deciding until after their official visits in the fall.

LB KJ Britt from Oxford, Ala. has been in contact with USC recruiter Coleman Hutzler and remains interested in the Gamecocks. "I love South Carolina. It's nice out there. They are low on linebackers." Britt said he's no longer in touch with Clemson. He's also talking to UAB, South Alabama, Georgia Tech, Jacksonville State, Georgia, Florida and LSU. Britt said there is no favorite. He said he'll probably come to a USC game this season. Britt is at The Opening this week.
