G.T. Football Recruiting, 2017, (24).

We do have 5, I may have jumped right through the proverbial "wishful tweet" a little prematurely on Henderson.
The sixth will be here before the 80 day countdown ends. Count on it. Don't count him out, either!

Hey mate, can you work in building a Da'Meon Williams statue this summer?

Hate to say it but Kirby Smart is really recruiting well in state. According to 24/7 they have 15 of the top 17 state players committed and the other 2 are players they are not recruiting.

Things at Georgia Tech have changed so much since the O'Leary days that I don't think this would be possible, even if the players were highly motivated to go there.

It's all in how you look at it , or write it up.
Here is an example if I worked at the AJC sports--- Coach Smart ( his name not how I feel about him) is having trouble getting 2 of the states top 17 players this year. And obvious sign that thing are headed in a bad Direction at uga. Maybe with a little luck they could finish at 6-6 this year.
Now at Georgia Tech they have 5 great players who have committed . Obviously they recruit in other states and don't rely on other the state of Georgia. And the best part is 1 of the 5 is a kicker and we all know that a kicker can beat you on the last play of a game.

People, including the young guys, are all awash in emotion that UGA will finally become Alabama - now that they have a former Alabama assistant coach. Of course, CKS may be the best thing UGA has ever had, and it is true that Jimmy's and Joe's trump X's and O's - so his recruiting is important. But one thing to always remember is this: this is UGA, not Alabama.

UGA is already beating almost everyone except the Alabama's and Florida's of the world. They averaged 10 wins per season under Richt, but could not get into a title game. The closest they came was against... Alabama in 2012... a game they lost. So their quest is equivalent to drawing to an inside straight. Very slim margin of error.

Consider this, too: Saban will retire in a couple of years. If CKS is successful, guess where they well may come to find his successor... you guessed it... Athens, GA... to the one who learned under the master and once walked the sidelines at Bryant-Denny. UGA or Alabama??? You know where he'd rather be - the place where he can be the best, or the place where he has to beat the best or get fired.

So it's all an illusion for the perpetual runner-up. UGA is not Alabama. They have covered up recruiting in GA for decades. This is nothing new. We approached some parity when we had O'Leary and they had Donnan, but not even Dodd out recruited UGA in GA after about 1960.

So don't sweat it. This is all a flash in the pan, and it will be fun to watch.

Heard through the grapevine Askew has run sub 4.4 in the 40 on grass and turf, in front of coaches. More than once! That 4.58 must have been on some thick, tall grass?

Had offers from Myd., West Va. and several other P5 programs/schools....

Before he made his decision, Askew was also considering Auburn, Florida State, and Mississippi State. “They just didn’t measure up to what Tech can offer both on and off the field.” Will Askew be taking any other visits? Jaytlin plans to take all five of his official visits. “I want to take them to be able to say that Tech is the right place for me. I am locked in to Tech." Jaytlin was upfront with Coach Johnson on taking the visits. “He was okay with it since I did it that way.”

Further proof that all blue chip HS FB players are dummies is a myth is evident in recent commit Jaytlin Askew... http://georgiatech.blog.ajc.com/201...-no-better-place-to-commit-than-georgia-tech/

“My whole thing is, I want to be successful,” he said. “So Georgia Tech is where I can’t go wrong, whether I go to the NFL (or not).”

These kind of kids are out there. They need - didn't say "want" - a place like Georgia Tech and our FB program where they can differentiate themselves and not be another number for 3 or 4 years at a factory. I'm glad Tech fills that need.

Welcome to Tech, Jaytlin!!!!

There are a few, sad that more don't e the bigger picture in life.

Duke has 13 verbal commits so far. Jordan is their 4th from the state of Georgia. They also have snagged Will Taylor, C, Grayson HS, Loganville...Marvin Hubbard, ATH, Sandy Creek HS, Tyrone...Joshua Blackwell, ATH, Buford HS, Buford.

The Blue Devils currently have more verbal commits from the state of Georgia (4) than we do (3).

That will change obviously. For the star gazers, Jordan is their first and only 4-star so far.

All of our defenders are 11 1/2 stars or higher of course and our guys who play offense are 9 star guys.
