GTMBB Recruiting, 2017.

The father of Wendell Carter, Jr. stated that he would like for his son to stay in state, however is taking a "will see" attitude towards GT. Staff, program is an unknown to him at this point.

The longer they wait to choose, the better off we are. Tech went from "not in the picture", to let's get to know what is happening. CJP admits with more time to develop relationships, 2018 and beyond will be more prosperous.

Keep wearing the GT gear with Tech Hoops spelled out. My son went to H.S. classes this morning looking like a YellowJacket cager. Whack, Big Al were smiling down on him.

By the way, we have a serious shot at Ray. Hammonds from Norcross!

The way things are going I don't think we'll see verbal commits before the early signing period. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. I hope the players are taking their time and trying to see what the new staff has going for it.
 
Getting signees in the Nov. signing period is HUUUUUUGE. Frees time to focus recruiting efforts elsewhere. Frees time in winter to focus more on the season in present tense. Provides opportunity for TV talking heads to hype the program during the season from signees already in the books from November. Just so many advantages.

I sure wish CFB would get its head out of the sand and do an early signing period. Wouldn't it take a lot off our staff if they had the Swillings and all signed right now so they could focus their recruiting efforts on younger players this fall while assuring nobody fell through the cracks over the last 2 weeks leading up to NSD?
 
Correct sir....and makes too much sense.
Meanwhile, coaches become babysitters and remember that adage of recruiting is like shaving. Miss a day, you look like a bum!
 

With value as an elite shot-blocker, Ikey Obiagu has been a widely recruited big man in the class of 2017. The 7-footer from Greenforest Christian in Decatur, Georgia.

Obiagu has two official visits set up. He'll make the quick trip to Georgia Tech on Aug. 30 to Sept. 1 and make his third trip to Maryland on Sept. 2-4.

Obiagu has been to Baylor and Florida State for unofficial visits and is still strongly considering the schools. He added Arizona and California round out his top six.

Collin Sexton will make an unofficial visit to Georgia Tech this weekend, according to multiple sources. The No. 8 overall ranked player in the class of 2017 plays at nearby Pebblebrook High School. Head coach Josh Pastner has made the game-changing guard a major priority in the 2017 class.

Wyatt Wilkes, one of the toughest matchup issues from the south and a new member of the HoopSeen Top-125 Rankings, has set an official visit date to Butler for September 16. The 6-foot-7 forward has other visits lined up for Florida State and Missouri with Creighton and Georgia Tech also involved.

Big man Ubong Okon has transferred to Georgia to attend New Rock Prep in Covington, Georgia. The high-energy big man played with the Upward Stars on the travel circuit and showed flashes of good things to come as a 6-foot-10 defender.

Wendell Carter, the No. 1 overall player on the HoopSeen125 national rankings, will take an official visit to Harvard the weekend of Sept. 17. Harvard will host to Mohamed Bamba the following weekend.

Justin Young: “That’s easy. I’m going with Hamidou Diallo. He’s nothing but excitement. He’s got the bounce that the best ones have. He’s growing in confidence every game out, too. The brighter the lights, the bigger the wow. Diallo delivers as a vertical athlete. I love watching him play. No one more exciting than him in my opinion.”
 


Rayshaun Hammonds was one of the most productive players on the Nike EYBL circuit this season and his recruitment shows it.

The multi-dimensional forward from Norcross (GA) High School was a priority prospect in July for a host of programs.

According to his high school Jesse McMillan, Hammonds has set up four official visits. Hammonds will visit Texas (Sept. 9), Memphis (Sept. 24), Miami (Oct. 8) and Alabama (Oct. 21).

Hammonds is the No. 40 ranked player in the country on the HoopSeen125. He was one our top three players at the 2016 NBPA Top 100 camp.
