GTMBB Recruiting, 2017.

How loaded is the state of Georgia in this '17 signing class? Dream for a second. Won't happen. We know. But, just dream for a minute. What if Tech had its own version 25 years later of the Fab Five?

PG: 6-2 Collin Sexton 5*, Mableton
2G: 6-5 M.J. Walker 5*, Jonesboro
SF: 6-7 Chuma Okeke 4*, Atlanta
PF: 6-10 Wendell Carter Jr., 5*, Atlanta
C: 7-0 Ikechukwu Obiagu, 4*, Decatur

Oh my!

(tap...tap...tap...ahhhh that was a good dream for a moment)

Justin Forrest was one of the top point guards at the Best of the South this week and his on the court work helped push a couple of programs over the edge to offer him a scholarship. Wofford, Towson and Troy tendered free rides.

Duke and Kentucky have shown interest, but have not offered.
"The two head coaches that have been recruiting him the longest are Alabama’s Avery Johnson and new Georgia Tech head coach Josh Pastner, who was recruiting him when he was at Memphis."

I've thought all along if Tech would offer Forrest a point guard slot, James would advise him to grab it now.

I can see a top 150 committing before college classes start. Maybe after these July showcases.

That would be a good development. GT has room for 4 players? Is that right?

By my count, Tech has openings for 6 ships to offer in this '17 class. Including Heyward, we are at 12 ships utilized this upcoming season. So, we have 1 opening from the 13 max already. Of the 12, we have Heath, Heyward, and Q as 3 seniors. Then, the 2 grad transfers (Price & McCormick). 1+2+3 = 6. We have no '17 commits to date. That may change very soon.

I don't know if CJP will use them all. I think in these early stages of his rebuild, he will rather use 4 let's say for instance on blue chippers and have 2 more for next year to balance out classes over just signing projects with those 2. At minimum, he will have 2 to use in the '18 class with T-Jax and Lammers projected as only seniors at the moment. He may have some of those 6 to use for '18. He may have some additional attrition which will not be unusual with a new staff (e.g., I could see one or two of the young'uns seeing more PT elsewhere if we were to land a 4-5 star type in '17 which would open up another ship or two).

I would absolutely LOVE to see us get a commit from Sexton. That could be a spark to get the snowball rolling and attract some other 4-5 star guys. Just need that first one to say Tech. Fingers crossed.

We have taken two Graduate Transfers, Jorgy off, Heath/Q/Corey all Seniors....7 left....room for 6....could hold one or two of those to go with Lammers, Jackson for 2018(balance classes out by doing that).

Edited: JT622 beat me to it, as I was doing math in my head. Note to self, no mathematics on this board.

A name to remember:
North Augusta, S.C. -- The Nike Peach Jam is in the books, and with it, this year’s EYBL season. Here’s a look at the standouts from all five days of action:

Michael Porter Jr., 6-9, SF

ESPN 100: 4

His ran away with Sunday’s championship game as Porter continued to make a case for being the top-ranked prospect. At 6-foot-9 he is both an elite athlete and a high level shot-maker. He rained 3s in the final and consistently showed the ability to make tough shots throughout the week by scoring over smaller defenders with step-backs and wrong-footed jumpers. Combine that with his ability to take the ball off the defensive glass and lead the break with his dribble and finish explosively up near the top of the box and he’s an extremely unique prospect and undoubtedly one of the best in 2017.

thanks to both for the updates, I was losing Corey as a senior, for some reason I was thinking he had 2 years left.

One way Pastner could have more spots to recruit in 2018 would sign a couple 1&done players

basketball Buzz Then he could take 6 and still have 4 next year..

Remember Porter so we can watch UWashington games when he's a FR there in 2017?

Didn't realize he committed. Thanks for updating us.

Just now finding some clips on him. They got a future player. I probably will watch him some, same with Carter, Sexton, et al.

I've only watched Porter 1-2 times, but agree he's going to be pretty awesome as he advances across levels.
