Here are a few gifs i decided to breakdown to give an idea of what happened on field vs. FSU. These are used to give others a different perspective on how to watch football. I don’t do this to disparage players or coaches, but to give insight to GT enthusiast on what I’ve learned as a player and avid football fan.
Defensively our worst game since minus the hopelessness but kudos to the FSU for scheming up what we like to do. We simply left our pads at home. The tackling was atrocious!
Our offense is anemic mostly due to our OL but there some missed opportunities. Pyron have us a glimpse what possibly the future may hold.
Scheme and mathematics.
We are either misaligned, DL didn’t get into the gap on the slant, or FSU 2 back created a math advantage where there is a blocker for every defender. DL has to be do better on not getting reached. The backside LB can’t get caught in the wash or you’ll have easy explosive runs like this all day.
The most impressive thing watching Pyron was his mechanics. Throws with a good base and compact release. This is starting p5 caliber throw in btw 2 defenders
Definitely a play both Pyron & Leonard would want back. Not sure if the OL got in Pyron’s vision but this should have been thrown immediately. Leonard’s field awareness needs to kick in and he should idle this route down so he can leave himself some room to get back upfield. Should’ve been a big play
This is the 2nd consecutive week our sideline tackling has been horrendous and has cost 3 TDs including the game vs. UVA
. We have the hip of ball carrier and put a shoulder pad on him
This what happens when you start guessing instead of reading what’s in front of you. #9 Kennard has to remember he is run defender first. With him immediately dropping to the flat. He creates a wider hole. Also, as a defender, you CANNOT let a QB get a shot on you like this without him feeling the pain.
Another Pyron fireball. Not the best matchup for Leonard against Verse. He has to sink his hips a bit me and keep his feet moving
Probably should’ve been a give here. We have 3 blockers for 3 defenders on the perimeter. Should be able to get a nice chunk of yards
Appear to be a blown assignment by FSU which we take advantage of. Nice corner route by Jenkins and nice ball Pyron. Both Sims & Pyron showed they can deliver if given time to deliver.
Prime example of a tired and unfocused defense we played Saturday. Thomas’s read key pulls right in front of him and he doesn’t move. His lack of flow allowed the OG to climb up & seal him for a big run.
Even though, both Sims & Pyron should be included in the run game on goal to go situations, the play calls were not bad as i initially thought.
The motion let us know that this man2man coverage. Ideally, i would still rather the 1on1 fade with Jenkins but Leonard was open as well. If it wasn’t for the Attaochu like get off by the LB that forced a back foot throw then this is probably a TD. Instead the ball is delivered behind then TE
We got what we wanted. Pyron appear to be predetermined in his decision bc if he noticed the immediate inside leverage by the Slot CB he should’ve gunned it outside to Carter for relatively easy score. I don’t believe would’ve be to make a play as he is midpointing to take away the corner route
