On the regular headline segment(s) this morning, Ch. 2 is reporting "harassment charges" have been filed.

If true and they can provide some evidence to substantiate their claim(s), then this is good. It will at least hopefully find out who is telling the truth...well, hopefully. If we have cops acting like turds, then get them the hell out. If we have potential recruits on OV's acting like turds, then they can take a hike. The negative press from this situation and national traction it has gained via the net has already made Tech look bad. I'd like to see something come out of this one way or the other that can help Tech - regardless of who is at fault here. Perhaps - and my gut suspects - like many confrontations these days, it is possibly a bit of both sides.

At minimum, I hope the GTAA and FB office learns something from this and does whatever it can do to avoid something like this from happening again in the future. For instance, at one time and I just assume it still is the case, all recruits and their visiting entourage on OV's were hosted by a coed who was with them pretty much at all times. I have of course zero details on this scenario and am too lazy to look them up, but my first reaction to all this was "where was the host to step in and calm the situation?"

edit note: regarding hoping someone has evidence, I am hopeful like we often see in this day and age that someone quickly grabbed their phone and started taping the confrontation and that further will hopefully be some form of evidence to show how this he-said-she-said difference actually went down.

I need help on this one, because I don't see the hostesses with the HS players being recruited or on any type of visit during games at GT? Maybe schools have reset policies? Don't go to the restaurants, so assume they are not with them there either, since you can usually hear about the family joining if they pay their own way.

Maybe DTM can shed light on hoops, because I don't see the coeds with those recruits during football games?

The coaches stopped asking us to write letters years ago, after NCAA rules changed.

I don't think it is a particularly good idea to place them near the letter winners suite. The temptation with the food and beverage goodies, and potential tampering issues, might affect what could be happening. The south end zone has room, better suited for visits. If they want to move some of the other GT athletic programs from the south to the north end zone, that would create plenty of extra room.

We've had way too many "sometimes it defies explanation" quotes from our coaching staff regarding missed assignments by the offensive line around here. So we have an established coaching issue on the o-line.

This Jordan Johnson situation escalated from host, to usher, to police - and the kid was still defiant. I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict he isn't the most coachable kid.

Given the above, I'd say he's a bad fit for our program.

With you 100%, Texwood.

Can't tell for certain if it really was a miscommunication or the staff is trying to do damage control because the kid is pulling the harassment card. Make him go away. I mean if those passes put you three in another section, go sit in it and say thanks for having us at another game(was at the FSU game). Don't try to manipulate authority and tell them you are threatening to decommit. The scholarship GT is providing is for beyond four years, including injury protection.

Not to take a side, but if this is the second time you are going back on your word(first, was wanting to take a visit elsewhere)...because you knew the rules but wanted us to offer...this attitude is not going to make it at a very stringent academic institute. Even with support staff.

Edited to note: The entire group of recruits got up to move to the new seats with no other incidents reported per Ch. 11.

Getting a visit today from Coach Lamar Owens that was already pre planned.

Just imagine how horrendous this situation would've been if the recruit and/or his entourage had Chick Fil A sandwiches on them getting into the stadium. The horrors! ;)

I don't side with this kid as I just don't have the details (glad they are looking into it and the GT COP is reaching out) but I don't trust cops anymore with anywhere near the blind eye I perhaps once did in my life.

Btw, thanks mate for keeping us posted and updated on these recruiting stories.

A friend told me last night that Grayson and Archer(in the same area of Gwinnett, that had split into two schools), had the best game he witnessed all season. As Grayson is playing in the Semi-Finals this Friday, thought you might be interested in who should project into the next Dorian Walker/Brad Stewart type:

Solid to Alabama, will be a Senior next year.

Has visited GT, will set up an official with his recruiting coach(Andy McCollum). Probably will take one to NC St., also.

From the article...

From a recruiting standpoint, he fits the mold for the type of player Jackets coach Paul Johnson covets – he has a high ceiling as a player, he values academics and he’s regarded as a high-character person by his coaches.

Funny how you never hear that stated about the coaching staffs at the Cesspool or Clemson or South Carolina or Tennessee or Auburn or Alabama or...

:)

That's because their fan base has no use for the statement.

The Staff at GT was turned loose on Nov. 29th to hit the road recruiting.
Two key offers were made on Monday, Nov. 30th:
Quintez Cephus
Desmond Branch

Mills, Ratliffe, Bridges are enrolling in January.

Tyler Stargil, Errin Joe will not be back.

CTR had an in-home visit with DT, Chris Martin this past Thursday night. Both of his boys who play for Buford, will be going to the State Finals in the Dome next week vs. Cartersville.

Damn. Finishing off this class was key and we just lost two. Any of you six (assuming you're all still solid) have any idea what went down with Hill?

Was told that Hill projected to meet our standards for academic admittance. He fell behind and now the risk for both parties became the deciding factor in cutting him loose. Hopefully, Kentucky will be a better option for the young man.

Tadaryll Marshall has been cut loose by UT. I know for a fact that this was a kid our staff was high on as a QB prospect last spring. No idea what our staff thinks of him now, but he is back on the market.

He might still make his ACT Score, but Tenn. isn't chancing those odds. The 3.2 GPA he reported is not exclusive to the core curriculum. Don't think GT or the Service Academies will roll the dice, but you never know.

Thanks for completing the picture on this one. The whole story makes a lot more sense now.

From the complimentary Scout story:
Parker Braun was hosted on the visit by fellow offensive lineman Trey Klock. "I got a chance to spend a lot of time with some of the younger members of the offensive line.” Parker also spent some time with his brother. Parker was happy that he was able to take the visit while his brother was still in school. “I got to attend the players’ banquet. I feel that was an honor to be able to attend.”

He is being counted on to be a big OL recruit for this cycle. Probably because we just had to subtract 2 from our 3 commits, leaving only 1 left for right now!

Some kids don't test well. I think there are just a few weekends left to take the ACT before February.
