Brandon Adams, Gentry Bonds and Tre Swilling have been working DT target Ben Hutch. Hutch has some work to do in the classroom, GT, Louisville and Nebraska are the major players there right now. Hutch is supposed to be at the GT-Vandy game this weekend.
GT is working on many other DT targets. One to keep an eye on who I know quite well is Godby DT Antwan Owens. Owens was at the spring game here and is currently committed to UCF. I expect CAM to go see him and Connor Hansen either next weekend or the bye weekend. GT could also circle around on NC State commit Grant Gibson because the Wolfpack's coach may get fired. GT was in the thick of it for Gibson and he has a good relationship with CBC.
DB OJ Tucker landed an offer from Maryland yesterday, I expect he will "decommit" or get dropped at some point this fall after he takes a visit. GT is one over at DB after taking Tre Swilling so not a big deal.
S Stuart Head was accepted into Stanford, but his recruitment is still far from over. He is a guy GT would go over to take, he may actually grow into a LB.
DE target Cortez Alston is someone CPJ and CTR are still high on, not my cup of tea, but I could still see him ending up at GT.
QB target Malik Willis is supposed to check out some games, but like I said before I think he will OV to GT the weekend of Dec. 10th.
Key spots remaining:
QB
DT
DT
SDE
MIKE LB
They want tall and big guys primarily for DT unless it is a high level guy like Gibson. Same goes with DEs, they may still take a rush end as well if they can find a skilled pass rush guy who isn't tiny like Drew Jordan is. He was too small, smaller than Freeman.
Still could take a RB either A-back or B-back, probably leaning toward someone who can play either. I wouldn't hold out hope for Jalen Holston
Not much going on with the MIKE LB search either. They would like someone bigger (taller) than Kendric Haynes so that is the hold up there. No one at GT is holding their breath on Leonard Warner either.
OL commit Demetris Harris is still flirting with teams and says he will take an OV to USF, I don't see that happening unless GT tanks the rest of the season. He is hedging some which is a smart play this far from NSD.
