Mercer@G.T.

The only way this happens is if we have some type of Charleston Southern type suspensions and the 30 players we have out are in the 2 deep.

Just one opinion....it looked to me like Tech came out for a scrimmage and Mercer looking for a game. They were playing for a program making contest, we played much more tight.

The talent level was the difference. Hats off to the Bears from Macon. They fought to the end.

Other thoughts?

What was that computer poll?

Could/should have been minimum 42-10 without that bogus fumble inside the 5. Forward progress clearly stopped. First drive likely a TD also: 49-10. Like Wofford a couple of years ago, the game appeared closer than it was. OTOH, I watched the UGA-Nichols State game. THAT was a close game. Dawgs are fortunate.

For those not at the game. The attendance announced was almost 50k. What I noticed in the fourth quarter as the sun was not shinning on the west stands, they appeared to be fairly full(a few seats with the old guard had left, because the outcome was determined)and the east side with parts of the end zones still burning bright, were no longer half full. Surmising the Club Levelers were inside watching or on the way out in the east c-1 through c-4. It was a shirt ringing, humid, red lobster kind of day, even with sunscreen on and liquids.

East stands were largely empty in the 2nd half, especially the chair backs.

I was a little surprised to see Brandon Adam's shirt get burned late in the game. At 6'2" 350 he is certainly a space eater in the middle. Hope he is able to contribute enough this season to make losing the redshirt year worthwhile.

BTW...

LOVED the unis yesterday! Can we please get back to that classic, simple Tech uni every game? It is one of the most beautiful in all college sports. The classic white and gold cannot be beat, IMHO.

What i took away from the game yesterday. Two things, if we play a highschool team that throws a screen pass every other play then we would probably lose. Secondly, Can Lamont Simmons please start over Step Durham. He looked lost on every play and tackles like his arms stop at his elbows..

maybe not, I think a redshirt can still play in one or two games before the decision is made.

Back to the earlier conversation on B-backs and playing time.

Marshall didn't help himself with that early fumble. The 2 most important things for a b-back to play, 1. hit the dive quick and hard through the LBs and 2. don't fumble.

He's got #1 down, but his ball control needs some help.

And I'm still glad MJ is a QB. :)

Nope, one snap = burned shirt. In CPJ's presser today, he said that Kenny Cooper is probably going to play at some point. So we are looking at the prospect of burning two shirts on the OL, and one on the DL. Not exactly what happens in Tuscaloosa, but it is what it is. The positive spin here (I guess) is that we are bringing in kids on the OL and DL that can immediately compete for playing time.
