FOOTBALL Another portal WR to keep an eye on (CJ Daniels)...

Is CJ Daniels from LSU and before that Liberty. Former Parkview standout, and his agent is former Georgia Tech walk-on Casey Gunn. Would be a grad transfer with one season of eligibility remaining. Georgia Tech has been in contact and a visit has reportedly been scheduled.

Daniels has 2,439 yards on 148 catches and 21 touchdowns in his career.

Three Georgia Tech Staffers Promoted

Shah, Markos, Cowley move into elevated roles heading into next era of intercollegiate athletics

THE FLATS – As Georgia Tech athletics continues to prepare for the next era of intercollegiate athletics, it has promoted three staff members to elevated roles that will assist in the development and implementation of revenue-sharing and roster-management strategies – Simit Shah to executive associate athletics director for administration, Lance Markos to senior associate athletics director for compliance and Bret Cowley to associate athletics director for compliance.

“As we quickly approach the next era of intercollegiate athletics, we are fully committed to providing our student-athletes and coaches the resources needed to compete for championships at the highest level,” Georgia Tech athletics director J Batt said. “Promoting Simit, Lance and Bret reflects that commitment, as their talents and expertise will be vital to our efforts in the revenue-sharing and roster-management spaces. I congratulate all three of them and I’m excited for what they will continue to bring to Georgia Tech in their elevated roles.”

Shah, a 1999 Georgia Tech alumnus (B.S. computer engineering), has been a member of the Yellow Jackets’ athletics staff since 2012. In his current administrative role, he oversees a variety of external initiatives and serves as the administrator for men’s and women’s tennis, as well as the secondary administrator for football and men’s basketball. In his 13 years with Tech athletics, he has also served as a digital consultant, assistant A.D. for brand and ideation and assistant A.D. for special projects. He returned to Tech in ’12 following 13 years at CNN/Turner.

Markos has been at Georgia Tech since 2016, first as assistant athletics director for compliance, before being promoted to associate A.D. in 2021. In his role, he oversees all NCAA regulatory matters for Tech athletics. Markos has more than two decades of experience in NCAA compliance, having previously served as senior director of compliance at Kansas and director of compliance at North Carolina.

Cowley is in his second stint at Georgia Tech, having returned to The Flats as assistant A.D. for compliance in 2022. He oversees the day-to-day operations of Georgia Tech’s compliance office. He originally joined Tech’s compliance staff in 2013 and was promoted to director of compliance in 2017, before moving on to Kennesaw State, where he served as assistant A.D. for compliance from 2019-22. His experience also includes a six-year stint at Florida State.

UPDATE OT: NIL FanBox is Expanding

I’m excited to share that my brand, NIL FanBox is expanding. Hopefully, GT Athletics will lean in to the partnership in the coming months to deliver Yellow Jacket nation more ‘fan-centric’ NIL monetization that levels up fandoms while supporting student athletes. We share 30% of revenue back to players and Athletic departments. If done correctly, we have a revenue model that can generate $1M+ in recurring, passive NIL each season.

But it starts with putting the everyday fan first. And we do that by creating euphoric unboxing experiences that reconnect fans with the players, moments and stories that make college sports unforgettable. Our physical memorabilia boxes deliver ‘dynamic’ collectibles to your doorstep that integrate exclusive player stories for ‘booster-like’ access and personalized fan connections. They are also pretty affordable starting at $199. Our premium boxes are slightly more expensive but include ultra-rare autographed collectibles from legendary players. For example we have activated Vince Young at Texas, Tyler Hansbrough at UNC and Braxton Miller at Ohio State.

If you guys are up for it. I’ll share my journey here and some cool/funny stories as we continue to build this thing. Thanks for listening!

FOOTBALL RECRUITING GT's long shots for the 2025 class

Brent Key spent time personally recruiting a few higher profile kids as he is trying to move Georgia Tech more into big boy recruiting (Petty/Garrett/Penson) type kids as he aims to continue building up the roster. During the last month of really active recruiting, he had several high-profile targets interested in Tech. Some used this interest to get additional money while others simply didn't end up flipping to GT, but it was not for a lack of trying on Key's part.

FOOTBALL Remaining 2025 HS Targets?

Do we have any known targets for the February signing period? Or are we waiting to see what spots we fill from the portal first before going after any more HS kids? I know @Kelly Quinlan you said we cooled on Chastan Brown but since the deal with Damola, have we picked things back up with him? I didn't realize he didn't sign anywhere in the early period, and Gorney thinks we are still in on him:

It might be time….

For some on here to take a break. This isn’t for the faint of heart playing big boy football in this landscape. I for one think Key has the exact right idea. Build up the lines of scrimmage and have a great QB. Can anyone say we aren’t doing that? I wish Singleton well along with Malik if he chooses to go get more money, but we will be fine. Yes it is great having someone that can take the top off the defense but you know what works even better? Making the D stack 8-9 in the box to try and stop the run coming down their throats and then going over the top.

It’s going to sound weird but after yesterday I’m even more convinced Key has the right plan. Let Auburn go over pay for skill players so their fan base can be delusional. It’s not sexy using your money on LOS but it’s the most effective way to win! If you can’t see that I’m sorry but you probably should not be on the board much the next few weeks!

FOOTBALL Just chatted briefly with West Georgia DB transfer Mar'Quavious Moss...

Who told me he would be visiting Georgia Tech tomorrow.

Former Troup County High standout who started his career at Dodge City Community College before transferring to West Georgia for a productive sophomore season. Good size at 6-2, 185 pounds.

My Memories from the 1985 Bowl Game in Birmingham - 39 Years ago

We beat Michigan State.

It was cold.

Bill Curry was coach and he suspended John Dewberry for curfew. Todd Rampley was the QB.

I think Malcolm King had a good game at RB and a FB named Nate Kelsey had a long run.

This was a good game and Dewberry, King and Gary Lee were stars in a big win in Athens.

I think this was the first time I bought a beer at a college football game.

Anyone else on this board attend this game.

After posting this I did some research - we were 9-2-1. Other stars on this team were Riccardo Ingram, Pat Swilling and Ted Roof.

The winning drive
