FOOTBALL RECRUITING Georgia Tech Junior Day visitors...

Georgia Tech will host a lot of talent over the next two weekends at their Junior Days as the 2026 class starts to come into a little clearer focus. I will be keeping track of those that are attending on this thread.

Here's the first: DE/Edge target Tristan Lyles from Phenix City in Alabama.

Cartersville WR Brady Marchese also told me this week that he will be there on Saturday (I'll have a full update story on his recruitment today.)

Fellowship Christian RB CJ Givers recently told me he would be at Tech on Feb. 1 unless something has changed with his plans. I will check in with him.

HOOPS Georgia Tech knocks off VT 71-64 without leading scorer Lance Terry

#GaTech leans hard on their five starters for a 71-64 win against Virginia Tech without leading scorer Lance Terry.

OT: Job Hunting Sucks

For the first time in a while I am having to actively seek out a new job (the start up I was working for failed). I've been recruited away so many times I've never had to hunt.

Any pointers on how things are different now than 10 years ago? Any sites other than LinkedIn, Indeed I should look at? Any other ways to search? Does anyone actually do cover letters any more?

HOOPS Stoudamire ACC Coaches Call today (Not the best news on Mustaf)...

Just got done with the weekly ACC Coaches Call. Stoudamire said no update on O'Brien or Reeves, but he did have some bad news on Mustaf as he said he will be re-evaluated in 2-4 weeks. So the injury hits just keep on coming.

He talked about the slow starts offensively in games being in his opinion due to not taking the right shots and forcing things too much. He said he needs his guards to have A or B games right now, but early on in games it seems like they are having a hard time getting in a rhythm. He said it would be all hands on deck coming up with ways they can warm up better or figure out how to have better starts offensively.

He said the players are giving it everything they have right now and working hard to get things turned around and he would appreciate a really good, loud, engaged crowd on Wednesday against Virginia Tech.

I'll have the full notes and quotes up a little bit later this afternoon.

OT: The news you’ve all been waiting on

finally tried the Raising Canes in Woodstock.

(Side note, the line to get in and traffic in the area was absurd)

Anyways, back to the review. We recently tried Guthrie’s for the first time after seeing several times on here about how good it was.

Comparing the two..

Drinks- Cane’s (Arnold Palmer was elite)
Chicken- Guthrie’s, by far
Fries- ehh to both, slight advantage Guthrie’s
Sauce- Cane’s

Overall- Guthrie’s > Zaxby’s > Cane’s

Georgia Tech Student-Athletes Post Record GPA

Yellow Jackets’ 3.30 mean GPA in Fall 2024 is highest in Tech athletics history

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech student-athletes posted a 3.30 mean grade point average during the Fall 2024 semester, the highest mean GPA in Tech athletics’ history.

Last fall’s 3.30 mean GPA broke the previous athletics record of 3.25, which was posted the previous semester (Spring 2024), and headlined a multitude of impressive academic achievements for the Yellow Jackets last semester. Those performances included:

  • five teams achieving their highest team GPA of all-time – golf (3.83), women’s tennis (3.83), men’s tennis (3.68), softball (3.55) and women’s cross country/track and field (3.51);
  • football posting a 3.0 team GPA, marking the first time that it ever reached the 3.0 threshold in-season, or recorded 3.0 team GPAs in back-to-back semesters (3.02 – Spring 2024);
  • 12-of-13 programs overall posting a 3.0 team GPA – golf (3.83), women’s tennis (3.83), men’s tennis (3.68), softball (3.55), women’s cross country/track and field (3.51), women’s swimming and diving (3.39), men’s swimming and diving (3.37), men’s cross country/track and field (3.36), baseball (3.34), volleyball (3.31), football (3.0) and women’s basketball (3.0);
  • 76% of all student-athletes earning a 3.0 or higher, the highest percentage in Tech history;
  • 60% of student-athletes earning Dean’s List or Faculty Honors designations;
  • student-athletes on men’s teams posting a 3.22 mean GPA, the highest in Tech history;
  • first-year student-athletes earning a 3.25 mean GPA.

Extraordinarily, Tech’s student-athletes achieved such a high level of academic success with 82% of them majoring in business (45%), engineering (26%), sciences (8%) or computing (3%).

Georgia Tech’s academic success is also illustrated by its latest 94% NCAA Graduation Success Rate (GSR), which was released by the NCAA in November. It is the highest in school history and four percentage points higher than the national average of 90%.
