Simple 3 ways to Play MTS files in VLC media Player

MTS, a high-definition AVC, MPEG, H.264 transport stream video, is a file format that is used commonly by HD camcorders from Sony, Panasonic,Canon and other brands. When using camcorder to shoot videos, you will end up with some clips which are separated in multiple files rather than one big file.

As a free media player both for Windows and Mac users, VLC media Player is popular among our video lovers. Playing MTS video with VLC is very simple:

You will first need to open VLC, then choose the .mts video format that you want to play then right click on it. A drop down will appear on its right or left. Then hover the cursor and click on Open with. From there hover the cursor and click on the VLC icon from options.

When you click on Open with VLC, the video will automatically played on the VLC media. From there you can make adjustment on volume, brightness aspect ratio and maximise the screen to enjoy watching the video.

Step 1. Active Open Media Window

On main UI of VLC player, click “Media” > “Convert/Save.” And then the “Open Media” window will pop up. Click “File” option.

Step 2. Add MTS files

Click “Add” to import your desired MTS files to VLC player, and then click “Convert/Save” to proceed to “Convert” window.

Step 3. Select a proper output format for MTS

On “Convert” window, choose an output video format under “Profile” dropdown list.

Step 4. Save the converted MTS files

Click “Browse” to find a destination folder to store the converted MTS files, and you can rename the output folder. And then click “Save.”

Step 5. Start converting MTS files

After choose an output folder to save the converted MTS videos, just click “Start” on the “Convert” window to realize MTS conversion.

But you can only play one video in a window at a time. Multiple MTS Conversion is not available.

In the end, you just need to click the "Convert" button start the conversion. After the conversion done, you can get the output videos played in VLC easily with HD quality.
