Duke@GT...Oct. 29

My comments are all from seeing him play in HS. I agree, we haven't seen enough at GT yet. Center is critical and needs a very smart young man to see the d-lines and call the blocking. .
ok thanks I forgot you don't live to far from Calhoun .

A season ago vs Duke...

-our defense limited Duke to 279 yards of total offense and registered 2 INT's and forced & recovered 1 fumble
-Duke returned one kickoff 100 yards for a TD
-Duke returned one punt for 69 yards setting up another score

We were beaten in special teams and getting off to a bad start (down 19-3).

Some national stats of note...

Total Defense: Tech 27th (in the nation) at 350.6 ypg allowed, but 51st in yards per play allowed at 5.38 ypp. I think the latter is a better measure for our defense considering we tend to limit possessions and plays by the opposition making the ypg stat less meaningful. Duke is right behind us at 52nd in YPP at 5.43.

Total Offense: Tech 107th at 355.1 ypg, but 57th in ypp at 5.93. Same reasoning for the YPP being the better indicator. Note, Duke is 117th in the nation in YPP at 4.96.

Penalties per game: Tech tied for 2nd (with Wisconsin) at 3.1...only behind Navy at 2.3. Navy has committed only 14 penalties all season thru 6 games. Texas Tech is last in the nation at 9.9 per game. Duke is tied for 18th at 4.9 ppg.

Turnover Margin: Tech is tied for 86th at -0.29 TO margin per game. Not good. Duke is worse tied for 106th at -0.57.

Georgia Tech's football team hit the practice field for the first time since Thursday and Yellow Jackets head coach Paul Johnson said his team looked rejuvenated.

"I think they enjoyed the weekend and they probably needed it after seven straight games," he said. "(We are) getting healthier in some spots and we only had a couple of guys who couldn't practice."

Going into the bye week, starting corner Step Durham, starting linebacker P.J. Davis and starting offensive tackles Andrew Marshall and Trey Klock were nursing lower body injuries. Davis' hamstring injury was the most serious.

"We will know later this week (on Davis)," Johnson said.

The Jackets were in full pads on Monday instead of shells and had a Tuesday style practice. They will be in full pads on Tuesday and Wednesday as well to prepare for Duke.

Duke has had 2 weeks to script an opening drive. We've had 2 weeks to prepare for their offense. Here's hoping we can duplicate the last game with a 3-and-out defensively on Duke's first possession. Then, do it again instead of allowing them to drive down the field and score like we did against GSU.

was that the monsoon game?

and did UVA force the turnovers with good defense or were they just boneheaded plays by their QB?

No.

Yes. Yes.

Duke's offense is terrible. If CTR's defense (with 2 weeks to prep) doesn't have a lot of fun Saturday on Grant Field, then the next 2 games are going to be X-Rated in terms of how the Cheaters and Hokies are going to ram us up the anal cavity.

Are we talking about Brazilian Porn ?

Yes, of course. You just now figuring out why I bought tickets to those 2 road games?

And, people think it is because they are closest in driving distance for me. HA!

  • It's homecoming at Georgia Tech and, much more often than not, that means that the Yellow Jackets will come out on top. The Jackets are 51-15-1 all-time in homecoming games, dating back to the Institute's first homecoming in 1949. The Yellow Jackets have won three-straight and 18 of their last 20 homecoming contests.

  • Duke is Georgia Tech's most common homecoming opponent, as Saturday marks the 22nd time that the Blue Devils and Yellow Jackets have played on homecoming at Tech. The Jackets are 14-6-1 in homecoming games against the Devils. Georgia Tech has not hosted any other opponent more than seven times for homecoming.

Gotta win homecoming. So says this guy...

...let's just hope CPJ remembers to practice.

Marshall's personal assistant coach will talk to Cooper's personal assistant coach who will get inputs from Burden's personal assistant coach. Then, they will talk to all of the other O-Linemen's personal assistant coaches. Together, the 15 or so personal Offensive Line assistant coaches will make a recommendation to CPJ, who will then pick whichever one looks the best in a Speedo. Next year, each O-Lineman will have at least 3 personal assistant coaches. We are Tech. Football factory and junk.

Ain't it great being a Football factory ? :p

Clemson may have a nap room. Tech is building the Cheetah 4 inside our new Indoor Practice Facility. Need to do something with that useless waste of space building. And "practice" will now take on a completely new meaning. The 17-star recruits are already lining up. So are the 10-star strippers. Donald Trump is working the deal. He'll soon have plenty of time on his hands. And, we know what he likes doing with his hands. :D

You are on to something, brother!
Doesn't matter if it's legal or not, GT can sell tickets. We'll have peeping Tom's, with the Donald's deplorable perverts(he does detest competition, however), the Recruits on the take and Premium Strippers. Forgive me for leaving the booze out.

Georgia Tech wrapped up practice on Tuesday with the second full pads practice of the week. After the bye week, the Jackets are fairly healthy at most spots including the offensive line. Tech will have the fifth different starting line of the year.

The Jackets will start from left to right, Jahaziel Lee, Parker Braun, Freddie Burden, Shamire Devine and Andrew Marshall.

Klock has been injured this season, yes? Will B. likely going to have to work his behind off to get back into the mix for starting consideration.

Kudos to Lee and Braun (and Coop for that matter) for getting themselves ready, absorbing the offense and coaching, and stepping up like they have as true freshmen. Hopefully, these guys in this current class of '17 will do the same.

Marshall has played all over the line, and very flexible(smart, too!).

Klock, Bryan to the bench?
Klock may still be hurt and not 100 % Tech showing Bryan played in the last two games but did not start not sure if he is 100%

Time for Vic Alex. to step up in maturity. As you said, take advantage of the opportunity for an athletic LBer to help the sure handed Alford/Mitchell combo.

Sometimes I will only watch him on STeams to see where he is, what he's doing.

Money still coming in on the Girls from Jersey. Tech now favored by 5.5 at most books.

I'll change my pick if you think its that important. We can't be jinxing the Jackets. They have enough issues without dealing with our unanimous opinions.
