There are several candidates in play still and CPJ would like to have everything wrapped up by the end of next week. Originally Stacy Searels was going to come to GT, but Miami hired him as an OL coach after Richt was turned down by another coach and that is why there wasn't an immediate hire made when they announced CRR's termination.

Candidate 1

GT Offensive Recruiting Coordinator- Brad Waggoner- Brad would be a shoe-in for any other spot on the offensive staff but his lack of OL experience hurts him. He would be the best recruiter of the three main targets I've heard of however.

Candidate 2

Former Tulane OL coach John McDonell- McDonell worked with CBP at Stanford and ND and has 30 years of CFB coaching experience including 12 years at Washington State under Mike Price. He is from the Pacific Northwest and doesn't have a ton of recruiting ties down here which would be a downside.

Candidate 3

Former Clemson and UNC DC/DL/OL coach Ron West- The connection is that West worked with CAM at Baylor as the OL coach there and he has a ton of experience on both sides of the ball and tons of recruiting experience down here, but he is long in the tooth.

West has signed some interesting kids.
