Do you expect a big season outta AJ gray ?

I want to temper expectations, PJ said by the "end" of his career he has a chance to be an all-time GT great. I think you will see him turn into a high caliber player this year if he is healthy and the defensive schemes aren't overly complicated.

Do you ever see Calvin coming in one day and joining the coaching staff

No, I think he is far more interested in things other than football and he has no love for the way some at the school treat the SAs. He is a good guy, but I think he has other aspirations in life than being a football junkie.

Do you see Calvin being an honorary captain this year?

I could see that happening, Thursday night for Clemson would be a good time for that.

With the dismissal of CJ do you think Marcus Marshall eclipses the 1000 yard mark? Who has a better shot at doing so? Him or JT?

I would think JT, I expect that MM and Dedrick and Allen will all share some reps. JT also can hit 80 every game with just two decent runs IMO. I just think the B-back carries will be shouldered across the group.

How big is the BC game for our defense?Do we need to show that we have turned a corner with Ted's gameplan ?

I'm hoping to see a good solid plan and execution. BC isn't reinventing the wheel and they don't have a ton of great skill guys so GT should be able to contain them..

CPJ talking up Mills. Can he push MMarshall?

That will be interesting, they really like Mills, he is VERY STRONG, but Marshall is a home run guy, it will be interesting to see how they mix. Mills can break loose as well, but neither of them are any good at pass pro which is a problem and how Allen will still see some action for now.

Other than AJ are our DBs talented enough to get the job done? Concerned.

I'd be mostly concerned with the lack of experience at CB outside of Step and Lance. I think the safety position has enough bodies there to get the job done especially if AJ does well on one side and Lawrence is solid at nickel. Need to see one of the young guys like Meiko or Dorian step up now and see what happens.

Personally I feel pretty good about the OL; my concern on offense is at WR. In CPJ's 3 big years - 08,09,14 - we had NFL guys as threats; this group seems underwhelming. Am I missing something?

It is young, I mean in 2008 and 2009 it was really just one guy, Hill didn't do a ton to attract anything other than single coverage and Melton was a non-factor most of the time. Ricky is pretty talented and I like Stewart, but he isn't a blazer down the field nor is Ricky. They want one of the kids to come in and give them a deep threat. That was supposed to be Philpott but he can't stay healthy and Howell has some potential in that area, but the newbies all can stretch the field. Should be interest.

Any idea who's sponsoring the tailgate in Dublin mentioned in the "How to Drink in Dublin" thread? Temple Bar, at 7:30pm, on Fri, 2Sep? I know some here were knocking around some ideas, but there was nothing that specific yet.

I'm happy to do whatever, if everyone can agree on somewhere I'll show up. I'm doing honeymoon stuff and won't be in Dublin until Thursday night, I'll be over in continental Europe most of the time I'm over there.

Why no Travon Mathis offer? Do they have bigger fish at DT that they think they have a legit shot at?

I think something is up with him personally or grade wise. He got only four written offers out of 20 verbal ones, Purdue, Southern Miss, WKU and Troy, that is telling.

Are there any other active OL prospects besides Hillery? (He's the only OL listed in the Recruiting pushpin list that is not committed.)

He is the only guy with an offer or that is offerable right now. I think you may see some movement here after camp once they figure out their plans for Parker, Jahaziel and Kenny and how they fit in and what they want to do with the four committed guys.

Just a fistful of in-the-weeds questions this week. All on the OL. a) Is Muns an adequate fill-in should Burden go down and Marshall have to stay at OT? (Said differently, what happens if Klock or Fromayan go down?)

Muns is okay, he is better than say Beno when they used him at center some or other backup guys. He is decent enough to move Marshall outside. I'm not really sure what they will do if Burden got hurt and it would depend most likely on if Marshall was starting or not. Right now Marshall is backing up at OT and OC so it is a non-issue.

b) Isn't Stickler's talent limited, such that he won't make the two-deep?

Freddie said he is doing well in camp so far, pads are going on so we shall see. He knows what to do and physically can do it, the question with Stick has been his personal drive to succeed.

c) Is Parker Braun OT or OG? And is PJ counting on him to wind up on the two-deep?

I'm not sure yet, he is not in the two-deep yet and CPJ would like to redshirt him if he can.

d) Which of the Morgan twins is better and can be an adequate OG sub?

Not sure, Brad has more time at OG so he is probably a little bit ahead, he just needs to learn the playbook and he will be fine. Scott is getting used to OL and coming off a back injury so he may be a little behind his brother. They haven't put pads on yet, so it is ridiculous to speculate on if they are good enough to play or not and it really doesn't matter because at least one of them will be playing a major role as a backup this fall.

Do you feel there are blocking schemes the OL coaches could implement to use Shamire's talents (strength, size, atheletic) and limit his liabilities (less nimble at his size)?

Yes, but CMS, CPJ and CRW are doing what CPJ wants to do. They could block the offense a different way but he doesn't want to do it or doesn't think it will work. Shamire would be better served moving less, but he isn't a big oaf or anything he moves well for his size.

How is lands-Davis developing at wr? He's not the prototypical wr size that we have had in the past but heard good things from this spring.

He blocks well and is very solid, I don't think he will turn into Bay-Bay or Smelter but he can be effective and is good in the run game and screen game.

With getting Oj Tucker do we still have room to go after another db such as Tre swilling

Yeah they have like 20 spots in all likelihood they probably will take one more DB, Stuart Head is really interested and the closest to being a Jacket, Tre' is out there and the Gentry Bonds kid as well.

How is Jaylend doing as a student & Assistant QB coach?

I need to check to see if he is still doing that this fall. I have not seen him, but again I'm not looking for him either when I watch practice. You are the second person to ask so I'll ask CPJ.

This will probably gets answered eventually on the Mbob thread. Is the GTAA one huge lack of communication? Years of football staff/money shortfalls + The money recently added to the GT basketball staff + Bobinski's statement = ?????? The answer I get is a giant cluster___. Please tell me a different conclusion.

Basically the way I understand things, GT has MBob at the top and some underlings who do his biding and have relationships with the various coaches, MBob is mostly removed from this. Mbob also isn't terrible active in terms of raising money or talking to donors compared to other ADs at GT or other ADs in general I've dealt with. Several of them have spoken to me about their lack of much of a relationship with him. I'm not sure why that is or if this is some plan or whatever. I do know that PJ is not happy, the football dept is not happy and really only Men's and Women's hoops seem to be pleased with the state of affairs right now. I will add that typically someone is always pissed at the AD at any school. D-Rad pinched pennies in ways that cost the GTAA some serious money like hiring Gregory for example or not ponying up for a decent DC for PJ when he got hired.

The main issue is the lack of interest from the school president in athletic success. That is part of the issue and I think GT lacks a quality grassroots approach to raising money and developing future donors like other schools do. No one seems to take pride in it and quite frankly it hurts my bottom line as well so that is why I'm bothered by it.
