FOOTBALL RECRUITING Visitor list for Duke at Georgia Tech...

Some interesting names on there. Yes, Sam Turner is on the list and several other commits. There are also several 2025 targets (Chase Linton) and 2025 players committed elsewhere that will be in attendance along with some big 2026 prospects.

Also, he's not on the list here because he doesn't have a Rivals card yet, but a "want to feel old moment" when I was reading the full list sent to us and I came across Orwin Smith Jr. from Central-Phenix, Ala.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING Another week of Following the Future...

And the playmakers keep on making plays. Every week I do this and it reinforces the fact that Brent Key and company have some electric ballplayers coming on in this class.

It’s Time!

It’s time for Tech to show consistency.
We need to take care of business at UNC this Saturday.
I know it’s not going to be easy. Looking at stats, these two teams are pretty evenly matched. (Throwing out the JMU game)
We are better at some spots and they are better at some.
I really think this is a pivotal point in our season. .
Win this game and the excitement and confidence surrounding this team will build. Lose and the consistency question will remain.
(Need to prove we can win two ACC games back to back and an away game to boot)

I feel like certain producers (Scorcese, Spielberg, Cameron, Cohen Brothers, Farrely Brothers, Happy Madison, Apatow, Stephen King, Shymalan though he has fallen off, etc.) deserve separate categories but that could be a separate thread.

No, I am not a Star Wars fan, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc. Though I appreciate them.

OT: Hurricane Helene

Morning JOL - As everyone knows, towns in Western NC and Eastern TN have been devastated by Hurricane Helene. We have spent a ton of time in WNC, and have some incredible memories from our time up there when my mother owned a cabin very close to towns that have literally been washed away. I am sure many of you have friends and family that were also affected by Helene as well.

We are in the process of securing some of the necessities they are saying are in high demand and we plan on taking a truck load on our way up to Raleigh for the game Saturday.

Obviously getting in to some of these highly impacted areas is an issue so we are looking for a couple of additional locations in NC that are staging supply drop offs.

We are looking for a location in the Raleigh/Durham area that is taking supplies. So if there are any members on here that live in the area and has a church or is helping coordinate runs to WNC we’d love to bring a load to drop off.

If you know of any locations please let us know.

President Cabrera Doubling Down

President Cabrera recently delivered his "State of the Institution" address on a campus-wide basis to students and faculty. In the session, he highlighted the four Big Bets the institution is making in support of its strategic plan (i.e. be the national leader in outcomes & value for students, double the # of annual degrees awarded, double the scale & impact of our research, and build a national hub for innovation & entrepreneurship). Big audacious goals for sure.....but what this board will find truly interesting are the four foundational priorities he stated are central to achieving the strategy.
  • promote the well being of all members of the GT community,
  • build a sustainable campus that supports the well being of people across the institute and surrounding community,
  • improve campus services & processes to enhance the GT experience for all, and
  • develop the full competitive potential of GT athletics!
I must admit, I never thought I would see the day a GT president made successful athletics a core tenet of the institute's strategic plan. Cool stuff for sure. Rock Horns
