First road game on an opponent's home field...though, not on campus.

Looking forward to it. Hoping for a 12/12:30 kickoff. Should know soon if they don't 6-day delay it.

This will be a huge test for the Good Guys - particularly our defense as Pitt's running game is stout (and their rush defense is currently #3 in the nation giving up 61.25 ypg...Miami is right behind them at 65.0, btw).

Pitt is giving up 2.08 yards per carry (4th in the nation). Canes are giving up 1.57 yards per carry (currently 2nd in the nation). Both of those will come down when done with us, but still, they both have been solid to date.

Pitt has of course played Okie State and the Cheaters who both like to sling the ball around a lot. Penn State? Not sure what they are about anymore. Pitt has definitely played a tough schedule so far. They host Marshall in what should be a win in Week 5.

ACC Network is the Raycom Sports syndicated package of ACC Games of the Week every 12:30 with the studio pregame at noon featuring that redneck, Tommy Bowden. I think the game comes on Ch. 69 in Atlanta.

The dedicated ACC Network for all sports that will be like the SEC Network, Big 10 Network, etc., will indeed begin in '19.

It is Ch. 69.
A few weeks ago the t.v. listings were showing WATL Ch. 36, which was false. I watched the Hokie game on there Saturday until halftime, as it was a smothering of the Pirates from E.C.U.

Is this a must win? I think it's about the biggest game of the season so far. If Tech wants to keep any hopes alive they have to win this game.

All games are must wins but I understand where you are coming from on this one. Problem is this is one of the games before the season I had as an L . Pitt to me is an old fashion team that likes to line up and hit you in the mouth. Pitt statistically is doing good at stopping the run but playing UNC you are not going to give up much rushing on them passing yea rushing no.

The line has dropped to 7. I think we have about the same chance to win this one as we had against Miami, so the line feels about right to me. Hopefully, we are the team that has some breaks go our way this time around.

I realize the first turnover for the TD is on JT5, but that was his blindside. From my viewpoint(sitting on the West 20, with a good look at the left tackle supposedly sealing the edge by pulling out as the QB rolls to the right), the Cane wasn't touched and hit him hard in the back. The second one was close on being down, although our QB should have had used better ball security.

We've seen a coastal team go to the championship game with 2 losses but I wouldn't want to chance 3. Some goals are still alive, but the team needs their best effort from here on.

I like my chances better against old fashion teams than spread teams. Pitt's d-line isn't Clemson's. I don't think it's as good as Miami's and they scored plenty against Miami.
Just can't have the turnovers.

Some national stats of note for Pitt...

Scoring Offense: 38th (37.4 ppg)
Total Offense Per Game: 59th (434.6 ypg)
Total Offense Per Play: 50th (6.04 ypp)
Rushing Offense Per Game: 16th (250.0 ypg)
Rushing Offense Per Carry: 27th (5.21 ypc)

Passing Offense Per Game: 104th (184.6 ypg)

Passing Offense Per Attempt: 58th (7.7 ypa)
3rd Down Conversions: 54th (41.89%)

Scoring Defense: 90th (31.0 ppg)
Total Defense Per Game: 72nd (406.6 ypg)
Total Defense Per Play: 93rd (6.00 ypp)
*BC is #1 in Defensive YPP at 3.53...Miami is tied for #2 at 3.58...Clemson is #5 at 4.06
Rushing Defense Per Game: 4th (69.8 ypg)
Rushing Defense Per Carry: 5th (2.36 ypc)

Passing Defense Per Game: 126th (336.8 ypg) -- there are 128 D1A teams
Passing Defense Per Attempt: 116th (8.8 ypa)

3rd Down Conversions Allowed: 38th (33.82%)

Sample size is still pretty small and the defensive stats may be a bit misleading as they've played some pass-happy teams like Okie State, Cheaters and Marshall. Their D has certainly played some strong offenses to date.

Pitt is 115th in passing attempts per game at 24.0. The Jackets are of course near the bottom at 124th with 15.0 attempts per game. It's pretty obvious what each team wants to do. Run the ball and set up the pass off the run at opportune moments.

Pitt has attempted 240 rushes and 120 passes. That's exactly a 2:1 or two-thirds rush & one-third pass ratio. Tech has attempted 234 rushes to only 75 passes...3:1.

Could be a fast game. I won't mind it as I will need to get back to the casino. DRUNK BUDDIES

Since they run the ball so much, maybe both teams get 6 possessions Saturday? Every possession needs to get some points.

If they look at our games don't be Surprised to see more passing from them.

Paraphrase quote from Paul Johnson "why would you expect to beat Clemson every year when the school is not as committed to FB resource wise"

Paraphrase quote from Paul Johnson "why would you expect to beat Clemson every year when the school is not as committed to FB resource wise"

For starters, who the hell is expecting us to beat Clemson every year?

Next, funny how the narrative from him has changed in just a couple of months. It was only 2 months ago when he was being rather braggadocios about his record against Clemson (and FSU) when asked about Clemson & FSU possibly opening up a gap at the top of the ACC between themselves and the rest of the ACC.

Finally, who cares about Clemson right now anyway? (not directed at you, mate...still focused on his paraphrased comment) We've lost 2 straight and by double digits in each. We're going on the road against a team who beat us last year and who needs a win as badly as we do. Clemson and perceived commitment or lack thereof about resources should be tabled as we "should" have more important things on our minds...or, one would hope.

IOW, he can...

Dedrick Mills is tied for 5th in the nation in scoring at 12.0 ppg. 8 TD's in 4 games. Recall, he was suspended for Mercer. He's on pace to score 22 TD's in his (true) freshman season.

I don't usually listen to the radio show because I've never found it to be all that enlightening. Buddy of mine called and told me I have to listen to CPJ's response to the last question about signaling plays in on offense. CPJ was lamenting that in retrospect Miami had our signals and said, "I assumed we had more than one guy signaling them in and we didn't. If you do that they're gonna get them". This statement coming from anyone whose title is Offensive Coordinator is unimaginable to me.

Question and response occur at around the 53 minute mark.

Too bad he was only a 3 star think how good he could be if he was rated as a 4 star ( this is sarcasm, I think will are lucky to have him )

If we wore Nike swooshes, Mills is probably a 5-star. The swoosh is worth an additional star and at least 4 additional wins per season. Or, so says the Tech Fashionistas.

Think how many stars he would be if he played LB. ;)

What Texwood brought up(in addition to the paraphrased comment, my alter ego tossed out), shows more excuses from the C.E.O. of the GT Football Program.

Furthermore, if casting aspersions at the players is valid....either coach them up or replace them one by one, should that be fitting. He has close to 105 on the roster.

The defense keeps playing soft coverage, giving automatic chunks of yardage for easy first downs. The H.C. can overrule the D.C.

Does anybody know what channel on the dish network?

For somebody who behaves like he detests the media pretty much 24/7, he sure appears to be using the media to be his megaphone here. Very disappointed in this, though not shocked. He has been saying things lately that have been rubbing me the wrong way. This isn't the first or second or third time.

Again, he very well may have a point. I can't argue that. I've been saying for a while we are at a crossroads and a good chunk of the Coastal Division (not even counting Clemson, FSU, and now adding Louisville in the other division) has made great hires and appear to be passing us by.

What facilities does CPJ feel we lack?

If we added another 1 million per year to staff salaries, would it make any difference? Would he fire Roof and get someone else? Would paying Roof or any of the other assistants more make him/them any better? And here's one for you...would he hire a legit offensive coordinator who can put an offense on the field that would attract big time recruits instead of being a turn off to so many?

I think it was CPJ who recently sounded off about how unfair Clemson and others are abusing the rules regarding hiring "special assistants" and "consultants". Is he suggesting we use another 1 million (or whatever the figure might be) a year to do the same? If you can't beat them now, join 'em I guess? Or, might it just be sour grapes because his offense has had its ass handed to him for the 2nd year in a row by a superior D-Coordinator at Clemson???

He's making a lot of general statements. Hopefully, he itemizes what he wants...and better yet, not to the media and instead to ADTS.

Discuss these issues with A.D. Stansbury? .....if not satisfied, Dr. Peterson?

At minimum. Here we are at midseason with a very important game coming up on the road as a TD underdog where we need to be focused on Pitt. But, our head coach decides to run his pie hole instead of just diverting or downplaying any questions while creating a completely unnecessary distraction.

We go up against Clemson in recruiting often. If you are a kid right now thinking GT or Clemson, our head coach pretty much helped make up your mind that life is better over across the state border. How brilliant is that?

Pretty big talk about Clemson coming off a 1-7 ACC season. We've lost 2 straight to Duke for crying out loud. How's about we set the bar where we just beat them right now? And Pitt this weekend. And, not have to come back in the last minute to beat Georgia Southern at home this time around.

As I posted last week, if we go 6-6 this season, we will be 41-43 vs P5 opponents since the 2010 season. Virginia Tech and Miami appear to have made great hires recently. CPJ was 2-6 against them before they made those hires. Maybe this marriage is beginning its end. Hate to see that because I genuinely like CPJ. Let's see what happens from here on. Will make my trip to Western Pennsylvania more interesting this weekend. I'll bring this up with him on my call with him and Ted later today. ;)

I don't think he's given the A.D. enough time to put "nap lounges" in the locker room or whatever other modern conveniences the football factories have.

I'm like you, blaming the timing of this. It would probably be more appropriate during the off-season or after the Bowl win, Jan. 2015. Some might say that is recruiting season, however that is every day of the year and recruits have open-ended access to all media outlets these days.

Making the national news now (several more reports just like this one out and about on the internet)...

Even though his words don't match the label of "blasts" as the title embellishes to, it is no surprise that it would and will be spun this way. He may have a point. His way of going about it is questionable. Not sure what positive can come out of this.
He didn't say anything that is not true. He needed to say this in private first but then again he may have I don't know.

What gets me, is Duke is just now catching up to where we were 20 years ago. UNCheat is the state university/school and read about their facilities still trying to catch up to us(link below). Both have defeated us two straight and have marginally surpassed us in the standings during 2015 or in recent times through like competition. Our recruiting budget is extremely competitive for our conference. Another 622 people in the recruiting office(o.k., Clemson only has 22 more)should not be a huge factor in recruiting 20 student athletes per cycle. Same amount of coaches, same rules; different academics. Like GTJT622 stated, another million for a D.C. may or may not make a difference. CTR is happy to be home, or T.D. Roof would not be coming in next year. Money doesn't define a person. It took me years to acquire real estate, only months to sell it for what is now a less stressful life. Give and take, losing some security. Off subject, but Joe Biden said this morning that every family wants to buy a home, not rent it(I get where his thoughts are coming from, however each situation is different). Happiness and health gain priority, as we get older. Not to argue money doesn't matter because it makes life more comfortable in this society, but it won't go with you.

I like CPJ a whole lot, but lately he's been passing the buck a bit too much for my liking. Still shaking my head that an OC is so detached from the process that he didn't know there was only one guy signaling plays in against Miami - and then passing that big huge C-note to the most junior coach on staff.
