FOOTBALL RECRUITING WAR ROOM

I figured it was time for a breakdown of where things are going.

QB (1) right now Georgia Tech has just one offered QB targets, Deejay Dallas (UGA lean). Kadarius Toney from Bama committed to Florida yesterday. I wouldn't be shocked to see a few QB offers go out between now and camp. They are hoping to bring in a couple of potential QBs in camp this summer as well.

B-Back (1, maybe) GT is deepest number wise at B-back right now with Marcus Marshall, Dedrick Mills, C.J. Leggett, Quaide Weimerskirch and KirVonte Benson all underclassmen. GT will only take an ELITE B-back like Bruce Jordan-Swilling or Colin Wilson.

A-Back (1) GT went in really early on Xavier Gantt last year so they are going slower this time around to weigh options. A dime a dozen position, not really hearing any leans here.

WR (1, maybe) GT could take a WR, but they are leaning toward not taking one in this class from what I'm hearing unless it is an elite guy.

OL (5) Cole Bentley, Case Cook and Mandy Alonso are all guys GT is in a good position with. Cook is probably the closest to making a decision. Lots of offers flying out right now, but I would not expect Brady Scott to give up baseball for football.

DT (2) M.J. Webb likes GT and he is a quiet guy, SEC factories are going hard on him. Rutger Reitmaier from Nashville (Tn.) is a high academic kid, he is big on Duke right now. Darnell Ewell cut his list to five, but he says he remains open, I think he will go to a factory IMO.

DE (1 SDE, 1 RDE) On the small side, Jacob Lichtenstein, Jermaine McDaniel and Drew Jordan are all big on GT. McDaniel would commit if GT pushed at all, but I think he is at the bottom of the offer list, Roof prefers Jordan, CMP may prefer someone a little bigger IMO because Jordan is a little on the small side around the size KeShun Freeman was in HS.

MLB (1) No clear leaders here, lots of high profile offers latest being Tyler Taylor and Thomas Johnston along with four-star Kendric Haynes. Haynes goes to LSU if they push. I think GT is out of play for KJ Britt.

OLB (2) 4-star Leonard Warner may be a GT lean, he has two uncle that are grads and his family is huge on academics and Leonard is a GT type kid. He could be a bellwether for this class. T.D. Roof doesn't have the love of GT his old man has which makes sense because he has only been back here the last few years. I wouldn't be shocked if TD goes elsewhere to build his own legacy. So new names, Colin Anderson, Michael Scott and DeAndre Wilder all want to visit this summer.

CB (2) This was the big miss position in the last class IMO. Again a ton of offers, Dameon Williams would pop if GT pushed I think. T.J. Carter is pretty interested, I'm trying to get a feel for the others.

S (2) This is another spot GT could use an upgrade at and a shot of talent. Lummie Young would commit if pushed, but he is on the backburner for the moment. Rodney Owens is pretty big on GT right now, the rest of the targets are probably longer shots at this point.

P GT has a commit from Pressley Harvin III, but Clemson is messing with him, I don't know if they have the stones to offer a ship on him yet, but if they do it could get interesting.

K (1) They are going to take a kicker in this class unless they feel better about the walk-ons. GT had Alex Usry in for visits and they like him. Usry needs to improve his kickoffs to be a scholarship level kicker though. Southern Miss commit Brent Cimaglia from Franklin (Tenn.) is another name to keep an eye on.

CPJ is really pushing elite talent early in this cycle so that is why they have not taken some commits that they would normally go on and the class is very OL heavy as well and those are not typically the first kids to commit.
