GT was 57th in the country in rushing offense last year at 169 YPG. One spot above Clemson interestingly. The top teams, service academies, were at 280+ YPG. We aren't there anymore. The bigger schools below that tier were Arkansas (227), Tennessee (217) and Ole Miss (217). In the ACC, offenses ahead us in this category were Syracuse (213), UNC (212), Louisville (210), VT (184), Duke (179), FSU (178).
In 2018, Chip Long's final season at ND, they averaged 41 run attempts per game vs. 32 pass attempts. Almost a 60/40 split favoring the run. Last year, GT attempted 37 run attempts per game and 29 pass attempts. Almost the exact same split as 2018 ND, just fewer plays per game.
It's been said we need more from our running game. In 2018, ND under Chip Long, was at 182 YPG rushing. So, let's set the over/under at 180 YPG in 2022.
