Georgia Tech signees Dalen Penson and Jordan Allen will both be moving on to their respective state championship track meets after impressiver performances at sectionals on Saturday.
Penson will be competing in the Class AAA State Meet in Albany in four events, including the 110 hurdles, long jump, triple jump and 4x100 relay. He won the sectional championship in the 110 hurdles with a time of 13.74, was part of the first-place 4x100 team that ran a 41.74, took third in the triple jump with a 47-6 and was fourth in the long jump with a 22-7.5
Penson will compete at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany for the Class AAA State Meet Friday and Saturday.
Allen qualified for the Class AAAAAA State Meet in the 100 meter dash with a fifth place finish and time of 10.80 at sectionals. He also qualified in the 4x100 and 4x200 relay with his teammates, finishing first in both events. They ran a 40.87 in the 4x100 and a 1:26.32 in the 4x200. He narrowly missed qualifying in the 200 meter dash as he took ninth with a 22.43 (eighth-place finisher ran a 22.42). Allen will be an alternate in that event should anyone else have to pull out with injury or whatever else.
The Class AAAAAA State Meet will be Friday and Saturday at Carrollton.
