I think that I'm not speaking out of turn here about the feeling all on this board have when the Swilling brothers committed. Finally the program was able to secure highly rated legacy recruits - the Swilling and Roof boys.
This recent success plus the fact that we are about to undertake the extremely important search for an Athletic Director, sets the stage for an important point. Many of us lament about the challenges faced by the school's athletic program and stay relevant within the current landscape, on a tactical level this includes our ability to recruit at a high level and secure legacies.
The reason TD and the Swilling boys are coming to GT is in part of the value proposition frequently discussed. However, the key reason the Swilling boys are coming is the relationship CTR has and developed with the family. An additional proof is just look at what Clemson has accomplished under Dabo, who firmly believes in developing relationships and what they have done in recruiting and how much they elevated thier program.
As such, my point here is that there is much that is outside our control or would require a significant effort to change. What is in our control and should change is the following:
The Swilling brothers commitment and the positive impact on the program is a key example of what is possible if the right things are done to produce these results.

- Continue to invest and hire certain individuals focused on recruiting to help foster and develop these relationships (HS coaches, SA, and their families). The proof is evident in some of our success, since we have operationalized what is in place now. We will never be on the same playing field as a UA, Clemson, etc. but this is not a reason not to due our best and continue to improve upon current efforts.
- In order to leverage former players, whether its an ask of their time and effort or if it makes sense, garner greater interest by legacies to follow and play for GT. The AA has to do a better job of stewardship and how it treats its players to create greater pull back to the Institute.
The Swilling brothers commitment and the positive impact on the program is a key example of what is possible if the right things are done to produce these results.
