Wayne Mote played for both Bill Curry and Bobby Ross in the mid and late 80's. After graduating from Tech in Civil Engineering, Wayne has had an outstanding career starting with Georgia DOT, followed by leadership positions with both JJG/Jacobs and now HNTB (where he and I worked together for a short time). Got word last week that he was in serious condition.
Here is what his Caring Bridge page says:

On Saturday, April 30, Wayne was participating in a super sprint triathlon. This was one of many triathlons for him, including a full Ironman seven months ago. He was well conditioned and even had a stress test five days before the race. He finished the swim and bike portion, and while he was running, he experienced sudden cardiac arrest. Another runner began performing CPR, and the EMTs were on site, so he was given immediate care. He is currently in the hospital.

The latest entry into Caring Bridge from his wife says that when he gathers consciousness, he tries to remove his ventilator and so they are having to sedate him more heavily to control that, but that has led to dangerously low heart rate and blood pressure. Trying to find the sweet spot.

Please keep Wayne and his family in your prayers.
