Georgia Tech wrapped up full pad preparations for Virginia on Wednesday and the Jackets head coach Paul Johnson spoke to the media about the final preparations for the Cavs.

"Practice has been good," Johnson said. "This is a healthy as we have been this season in a while."

Johnson said that junior offensive tackle Eason Fromayan is leaving the program and forgoing his senior year to pursue a career in NASCAR.

"He wants to get into NASCAR and he is going to graduate and wants to be on the pit crew," Johnson said. "He has some ties or leads there. He is a little older because he was a transfer and sat out and he just doesn't see football as part of his future so he is going to get his degree and move on."

Fromayan's departure is not unusual for Tech, many student athletes including football players have left as juniors to pursue non-sports interests. Johnson said what is part of what sells Tech is also why kids leave early as well.

"That is why a lot of kids come to school here so they can set themselves up for the future they are looking for," he said.

CPJ said that JJ Green being back is big because he was playing well.

CPJ said that Andrew Marshall will probably start at RT on Saturday.

CPJ said Marcus Marshall played pretty well against VaTech and he hopes he continues that direction this week. Said Marcus Allen remains the #2 B-back this week.

CPJ said he hopes the defense gets some turnovers and UVA has struggled with giving up a lot, said winning the turnover battle is huge.

CPJ talked about how critical the field position, the VT game was the best they'd had since Vandy. Said it helps the team, gave an example of the punt return before the half. Said they were already in FG range after that so even if they didn't get a touchdown, you get points and some momentum into the half. Said usually you get more than they have this season.

I asked CPJ about the Wake-Louisville accusations of stealing plays, he demurred and laughed said he hadn't had it happen to him as far as he knows.
