Georgia Tech's football team hit the practice field for the first time since Thursday and Yellow Jackets head coach Paul Johnson said his team looked rejuvenated.

"I think they enjoyed the weekend and they probably needed it after seven straight games," he said. "(We are) getting healthier in some spots and we only had a couple of guys who couldn't practice."

Going into the bye week, starting corner Step Durham, starting linebacker P.J. Davis and starting offensive tackles Andrew Marshall and Trey Klock were nursing lower body injuries. Davis' hamstring injury was the most serious.

"We will know later this week (on Davis)," Johnson said.

The Jackets were in full pads on Monday instead of shells and had a Tuesday style practice. They will be in full pads on Tuesday and Wednesday as well to prepare for Duke.

CPJ said the Duke offense is similar and they do the same stuff. Said the young QB has a live arm and quick receivers.

CTR said that Duke wants to pound the ball up the middle then lull you with a screen, then break a big run up the middle. Said it is going to be a tough guy up front.

CTR said that Brant Mitchell wants to be great and is essentially over thinking on the field and that is why he has regressed some. Said they have emphasized this week turning it loose some.

CPJ said he isn't sure Duke will milk the clock, said they do, do a good job keeping on the field.

CPJ made a joke about Duke playing Army as a dress rehearsal.

CPJ said two years ago they turned it over too much and last year the GT offense was bad and they just beat them.

CPJ said he is unsure why the team can't create turnovers defensively. Said getting more people around the ball helps.

CPJ said he went on Saturday to Bloomington, IN to see his daughter sing in an opera as the lead in "Florencia en el Amazonas."

Pat Gamble said the team now sort of control their own destiny and that is the talk in the locker room and the battle cry this week, just want to go 1-0.

CMP said that Kyle Cerge-Henderson and Pat Gamble are still the starters, said that Francis Kallon and Brentavious Glanton are the twos, but they are aiming to get Brandon Adams more snaps. Said he only has about two plays in him at full speed at a time, so they have to sub him out, but he can do things in those situations. Playing non-up tempo teams like Duke should increase his reps.

Today is the anniversary of the kick-six, Lance Austin said there was some irony in his former Rising Seniors teammate Grant Haley doing the same thing against Ohio State for Penn State on Saturday. They exchanged tweets at each other.

Antonio Simmons says he is getting better, said he has a high football IQ and he has been working hard to make sure make plays for the defense.

Many of the players are at McCamish tonight to see Kyle Maynard (a quadriplegic) speak who climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro without prosthetic limbs.
