Looking forward to moving on and playing Miami. Very talented to our team had ups and downs like us. Very good athletes and very talented and they can play with anyone in the country. Regroup and play well and lay a foundation for the game.
ON SMALL CROWD FOR MIAMI
Possibly, that is part of the game, you have to motivate yourself to play and find some angles. We have not done well at Miami, we have a chance to break that trend. It is another chance to break that trend.
ON ERRIN JOE PENALTY
It was so late it wasn't on our game film. You never blame one play or one player, we didn't lose because of that, there were many times. There are times to do that, but that wasn't one. It was a microcosm of what has happened all year. Errin played okay, some good things and some not so well. What is on the film, people on top of JT pawing at the ball and punching at him and he tried to protect him and used poor judgment.
ON THE PERSONALITY OF THIS TEAM
They are trying hard and are frustrated, every game but Clemson and maybe ND we haven't been able to get on the right side of. Last year's group has it's own chemistry. I don't think it is dysfunctional or anything like that.
ON SCORING 41+ on the second half last year compared to this year
We aren't doing the little things correctly and we have to coach the little things better and we are playing with a lot of young guys. We were hitting on all cylinders and we are not that far off, just a path or a track here and there. Whatever we have to do to derail things we do and last year we didn't.
ON VATECH AND UGA GAME YOU MADE PLAYS LAST YEAR
If you watch football, there is a thin line between winning and losing. There are a zillion plays, we run the first play on their side of the field we make 6-7 yards on the first play to the B-back, it should have been a TD, or down to the 10 and game over last year. That is the fine line. You get a call or a turnover or whatever, or we don't turn it over. You make your own breaks and we have to do more for details.
ON COLLECTIVE YOUTH
It is the most I ever remember, I don't know if I've ever played this many freshmen.
ON CLASS IDENITY
They are trying to survive and our kids did okay on Thursday night, we had a couple of missed assignments, the key plays they weren't involved in, they did okay. When you are struggling like this, if there is one thing you can put your finger on, you do it, if you fix on thing something else breaks. It is like putting your finger in a dyke.
ON DEFENSIVE TACKLE PLAY
They played okay, we played fairly well, but we are not as good at defending the run as I would like or US running the ball either. Their RB had 130 yards and we kept points off the board and if you don't turn the ball over and in the 4th quarter we are in field goal range already and we don't seal the inside and we try to split a guy and we fumble. The next fumble was a zone give and you can't fumble that. If you do that you will do that. My wife had a great perception on 3rd and long why did you hand it up the middle. It is a blitz check, but you have to do it right the guy comes across the face, it they block it right it is a TD and everyone calls it a great call.
ON MARCUS ALLEN
He was productive at times, but he had some critical errors too. It will be judged by who is healthy, Patrick Skov played 2-3 plays and the other guy laid it on the ground, it is who is doing the best job. Who does a good job will play.
ON PLAYING YOUNG GUYS FOR THE FUTURE
You hope the more guys play, the bulk of our guys will be back, we have seniors playing that are hurt and then we have a mix and seniors on defense battling, not many seniors left on offense at all.
ON JUSTIN THOMAS HANDLING THE SEASON
He is handling it okay, he has been inconsistent and he is beat up physically and he is a tough guy. It would be fair to say everyone is frustrated especially when you are not used to it and he isn't and I'm not. I doubt many of our guys are. Winning isn't easy and sometimes people take it for granted. He has handled it as well as anyone, he is very competitive.
AT DEFENSIVE TACKLE WITH JABARI
We will see how they practice.
ON MIAMI'S PASSING GAME
Kaaya is very talented and has WRs that can stretch you vertically and guys checking out of the backfield that are very proficient throwing the ball. He is very good.
ON JABARI HUNT UNDER PERFORMANCE
He played against Shaq Mason every day last year, he was used to playing our offense every day and maybe that is part of it. He struggled early and it has not gone the way he wanted it to go. I don't have an answer for that. We have a tendency to anoint people before they ever play. Sometimes it is hard to live up to the hype. I hate singling out freshmen because you don't know what will happen until they play 5-6 games.
ON UPDATE ON INJURED GUYS
All doing well with rehab, we will get some back for spring and others for fall.
ON SOMETHING CATCHING YOU OFF GUARD FROM A POSITION GROUP
I wouldn't want to single out any position group, I think that probably for the most part there have been a couple that I wouldn't say caught me by surprise but I hoped would perform better.
ON PLANS WITH FRESHMEN
I'm going to try to win the game, but the guys have to earn the time. I planned to play Matt Jordan on Thursday and there wasn't a time to put him in. There weren't many possessions and you fumble them on the first play or second play. We ran 60 plays because of fumbles and there wasn't time. I'd like to get him in the game, but I hesitate to say I'll put him in X, it will be on the 1 yard line or something bad. Justin has taken physical shots and it would help him and we would play the guys who give us the best chance to win.
ON TIM'S INJURY
We have a package we like to run goal line and follow plays and in hindsight we should have trained Matthew Jordan for that quicker, there is no question we miss him and he is a good leader and that was a critical injuries and it affected several positions too.
