What connectivity does Drew Barry have to coaching, recruiting, AAU, etc.?
Just curious is all as I have no idea. I've seen him on TV some here and there. Otherwise, I dunno.
He's projected as a one and done, Dad probably not coming here.Kobi Simmons' dad.
He did win 31 games that season. Averaged 24 victories in those 7 years. Won 7 of every 10 games under a passionate microscope. CJCal wanted him to go to Kentucky with him and all of those NBA Players CJCal took with him that CJP recruited too. Not defending him, however if players are graduating in three years, some will move on. He learned from it. Admits his flaws. Very refreshing to me after Hewitt and Mr. Always Rebuilding Nice Guy Gregs. and the excuses. Do you realize that if Memphis would have said yes to the Tournaments the last two years, he would be 20 for 20 as a player and as a coach(17 in the NCAA).Buzz4Life, after looking at your timeline, I am not sure why Memphis raised his salary so much with the last extension. Only 1 NCAA tournament win?
Let's hope this comes true. If not Lutz then a coach with similar credentials.Rumors on a Pack board that Bobby Lutz is gone to GT. No clue if there is any truth to it, but posting because I think he would be a fantastic hire. Seems a little too good to be true though.

I think in general coaches are being rewarded in their 2&3rd contracts for potential and not for actual productivity. Granted his record is an accomplishment, but when you listen the Tech fan base, the main thing is NCAA tournament wins. That's the biggest factor. It just surprised me to see such a huge bump after mediocre tournament results. I am a big believer in average base salaries with plenty of performance bonuses. Total wins, conference wins, conference championship games, conference championships, post season berths, tournament wins, Sweet Sixteens, Final Fours, etc. Then other areas academic performance, APRs, etc. Load it up to keep the edge on the coach to earn that big paycheck. He did win 31 games that season. I have no problem with a few easy ones in there if it is keeping the base salary down. Those are important games and need to be won. If he gets the teams to win them, then great. Obviously an NCAA berth and an NIT berth isn't the same bonus.Just make sure the incentives are for good accomplishments and/or BIG things. Not Gregory getting 5 grand for beating Clemson or Hewitt's ridiculous contract that had a bonus for 10 or so grand for making the meaningless exhibition event known as the NIT.
looks like a great hire!
