Play like you have heart and guts or go play Tiddlywinks.

Don't tell me you have we can see the real story.

Offensive line coach and SP teams coach , coach your players up or find another job.

Defense use you arms to tackle

Offensive lineman blocking does not mean to fall on your Stomach it's hard to block if your on the ground.

WR and Abacks block someone once.

Long snapper let the backup play , one bad snap a game is not good.

CPJ get mad real mad if the player has no heart and guts run them off we don't need them. Look at your coaches tell them to coach their players up or you can find someone who can do the job

What he said! I'm extremely disappointed in these defensive guys - starting with the coaching staff. Can't blame lack of experience because we have it. Can't blame lack of talent or depth because we have that too. What's left? Scheme? Maybe. Lack of fundamentals, execution, and heart? More likely. I'm absolutely sick of defense being an after thought in this program. Starts ultimately at the top with the head coach. Defense has for the most part sucked ass during this era. ND, UNC and Clemson have dynamic, effective offenses, I know. Still, we are making them look better than they even are. At this point, I'd be plenty pleased if we start moving these younger guys into some starting roles and play for the future. If 7 senior starters are going to look this bad and play this poorly then give somebody else a chance. The lack of leadership among these seniors is startling. Sad.

I'm as frustrated and at a loss for words as everyone else but let's not question there heart. These kids are busting there asses out there. I played basketball in college. I know what it's like to lose 4,5 or 6 games in a row. But if anyone questioned my heart to my face or teammates face it wouldn't end well. Now confidence is another matter. That will cost you games. Sometimes you get to worried about making a mistake and you begin to think too much and not reacting or just playing. This team is young and they look completely down on themselves. All it takes in sports is just one win. We do that Saturday against a good Pitt team then maybe things can get back on track.

For the numerologists of the small group here...

...points allowed in the last 4 games...

...30, 34, 38, 43...

Not a good direction.

So, you took my entire post and picked out one word? OK. And, if you think this defense is playing with a lot of heart and determination right now, I am scared as hell as to just how worse this can possibly get.

No, it's not a good direction.

and for the offense...22, 20, 31(against a sorry UNCheat defense at our home), 24. We need 30 or more every game, because this team is predicated on points and ball control.

Didn't take it from your post. Talking about what was said in the first post about play with heart or go play tidallywinks or whatever. So...

Ryan-
This was your thread posted on another site? You condemned both Stech and GTJT for questioning "no heart":

This is the worst effort I've seen in a GT team in years. Absolutely embarrassing. This season is over. There is no confidence or fight in this team.

Didn't take it from your post. Talking about what was said in the first post about play with heart or go play tidallywinks or whatever. So...
First I said play with heart and guts. Just because you go to practice does not mean you have heart and guts. I don't go to their practices but I know from playing football you play in the game no better than you practice . If you don't give 100 percent in practice you won't in a game. This is football not basketball, I'm not no who can talk about anything in basketball . All I know is you have 12 games in football .

I will just quote what Woody Hayes told our team after we lost to South Carolina and were about to play Ala on the road . " the same #%#ers who pat you on the back and tell you how great you are are the same %#ers who talk bad about you when you lose " He then said " the only people who really care are right here on this field w you." I do not have much respect for " fans" that question young men's heart. You can judge performance but attacking character ( heart ) ... Especially these young men who bust their asses everyday on the field and the classroom. I doubt many other schools we face have players studying until 3 am during the fall . But it's a forum and everyone has a opinion.

"the only people who really care are right here on this field with you"

You really think that? Um, if I didn't "care" I wouldn't have invested in a trip to South Bend and then sat in the rain in Durham a week later.

A wise Marketing professor at Georgia Tech once asked a class of 300+ students I was in 30 years ago on a cold early morning winter class... "do you want your customer complaints to go up or go down?" Like it had been rehearsed, 300+ young, bright students incorrectly replied in unison "DOOOOWN". To which, a good lesson I learned at the next moment has carried with me the rest of my life. That is, the prof went on to say "WRONG!" You want your customer complaints to go up. For 2 reasons. One, customers who complain offer the opportunity to provide insight into what their expectation is. But more importantly, two, the customer who complains hasn't given up on you. In other words, anybody on this "forum" who may come across as "complaining" hasn't quit. And, I know some of these guys personally and you'd never ever understand how much they "care" and have invested over the last few decades in Tech, Tech Football, and Tech Athletics as a whole - along with myself included.

Nobody is taking any pot shots at these players or questioning their character or lacking appreciation that they have taken a tough route at an institution that takes no short cuts when it comes to academics. I can see and appreciate you have connectivity to a player on our team. Good. Please don't be offended.

But, to imply that folks who come across as "complaining"... "don't really care" is ludicrous - perhaps even more than the perceived notion you may have that "fans" (quotes to copy your inputs) don't deserve your respect.

Having said all that, GO JACKETS! Have been here "caring" for 40+ years and hopefully will for another 40 more Buddha willing.

Woody Hayes is a great example of a "man with heart" for young people. He punched Charlie Bauman( sp.)of Clemson, to show how much he appreciates the SA and a great example of sportsmanship!

That is what Woody Hayes said . I should have put it in quotes. He was making a point about the Team family and fighting for each other and not paying attention the complainers. I should take his advise and start using the ignor button. The majority of Fans support the team. People can complain about performance all they want. I do not have respect for the minority of Fans who make implied comments judging the character of the team . The original post in the Letter to the Players and Coaches did imply that they have not been playing w heart. Everyone has a opinion. Woody punching the Clemson player was at the end of his career . He admitted it was the worse thing he had ever done.

Hmmm...interesting. First postgame quoted comment at Tech's official website from our head coach...

I was disappointed with the effort today. We looked like a poorly coached team, and that starts with me. Clemson is a good football team. I’ll give them credit. They have some really good players. At least the kids came back and fought. It would have been easy to quit. But we’ve got a lot of freshmen and we have a ways to go. We really don’t have anybody we can rely on. It’s really frustrating.”

In the midst of a 4-game losing streak where we look awful - and I mean awful - I am pretty sure anything and everything will be questioned. Not just by "fans" who don't deserve any respect apparently, but by coaches, press, players themselves, former players, you name it. Hopefully the guys will bounce back this week at home and then again versus the Noles. More than anything, I hope I don't read our head coach stating once again words about being disappointed with effort. As Tech "fans" for 40+ years who don't deserve any respect apparently, we've grown rather accustomed to appreciating our guys and gals who wear the white and gold and don't take an easy route through college. Further, and I think I speak for many, one thing we always expect at Tech is effort. From our coaches more than anything. If we wanted to base our fanhood on wins and losses, Tech likely isn't the wisest of choices.

I worked once with a man who had grown up in Columbus, Ohio. He had a brother and several friends who played for "that man". I was told he was not only mean spirited, but terrible to play for if the SA didn't meet up to his expectations. He won games, so the fans/locals loved him. Some of the young men he made his living off of, did not care for him. Punching a young opponent on National Television might have been his most visible mistake, but probably not the worst one.

The Character of this group is they do not quit. If they had , Clemson would have scored first and goal at the end. They will fight back , younger guys will continue to improve. Judging performance is expected . There is a difference between judging performance and implying that the Team has no heart .

I did not know Woody , just heard him speak once before practice in 1984.

Ok I apologize for using the word heart , please reread the statement I said play with heart and guts I did not mean they did not had heart. Maybe I came across wrong If I did I'm sorry. GTJT s knows me me I love Tech Football been a season ticket holder since 1981 I'm not a fair weather fan. Like GTJT I have watch us go 1-10. The mistake I made was posting while being pissed off someone I know better than to do. If you are who I think you are I was so happy when your son signed his LOI. I don't know what the problem is but I have trust CPJ will work it out. Again I apologize if I said something I should not have said.

We are all wanting the same thing. Sorry if I suggested that fans were not important. That was a reference to a specific few that Woody was referring to during his " pep talk " . That was not my intention. I should prob write a response , read it out loud and then delete it. The vast majority obviously support the team. On a funny note , when Woody Hayes made those comments , Coach Dooleys jaw dropped.

Believe me the few of us on here are great fans. Buzzforlife , GTJT ,Texwood, and BornAjacket I may be the only one that did not graduate from Georgia Tech I got my degree from Southern Tech. We just need to beat Pitt this week a win would do all of us some good.

No Heart ? These young men do not quit . They are at work today getting ready for Pitt . Its one thing to talk about performance . To say something as stupid as that ... This reminds me of when I played and we lost and Coach Dooley had Woody Hayes speak to us . Coach Hayes told us , "the same SOB"s that pat you on the back when your winning are the same MF ing SOB's that talk bad about you when you lose ". So I guess he was speaking about " fans " like you .

Mr. Bryan;

We are thrilled to have/had your sons on our team. I did not know Woody Hayes, either. Just from a distance, I could never entertain the thought of my son playing for him. My boy has Autism, so there would be few coaches on the planet other than say a Bill Curry that I would consider(although C.J. is over 6' and 225 lbs., mean, strong, excellent gross motor skills). He lacks the social skills to compete on a team, like William has. You are blessed greatly!

In my 50th year of GT Football, these men on this board are the classiest of any guys on the internet sites for GT. I feel their frustration and it is probably only semantics we are disagreeing over. I felt the energy was missing too(some like Ryan have called it heart when he drank one too many). Energy comes from the heart, when adversity is all around and we feel we have nothing left inside to play for. The Orange had it Saturday. They usually do. I don't think I have missed a Tech game over there since it is so close in proximity to N. Atlanta and we did not play at Clemson before the 70's.

We all are frustrated with this first half of the season. Please keep posting with us. We are a unique fan base, makes us like family.

May God bless,
Kirk and C.J.

Edited to say: I am a sidewalk fan. Ga. State graduate, who never pulls for them over GT. Not in any sport, ever! I confess to taking Statistics and a Mgmt. course at Tech when State was full in my scheduled time slots with work during pursuit of a Masters Degree.

Its OK they have medicine for it.:) I know I've been on it 40 years. Doctor asked me do I exercise, I told him when I drink beer I walk to the bathroom. He said I need more exercise , so I drink more so I can walk to the bathroom more.

Watching replays of the games this season leaves me with more head scratching moments than I can ever remember as a fan of GT football. There are way too many plays that are being killed by blown assignments, on both sides of the ball. The last time I saw something like this was 1991 - and we know what caused that. I hope to hell that's not what we are seeing this season.
