I know this has been discussed but the NCAA and agreement from school presidents have allowed the "perfect storm to form" as it relates to the college landscape, and it's not good. I've included an article that specifically addresses how NIL/ Transfer Portal will impact UM sports but this will apply to all schools moving forward.

The long and short of it is that first, schools will be forced to cut programs, mainly which generate little to no revenue and disproportionately men's programs due to Title IX protections. Second, the remaining programs after this fall will cut back rosters to save money, which has already begun. These cuts will impact younger players and current commits who will be college freshmen in the fall. This is because these athletes have not had a real opportunity to compete for a roster spot.

Other issues at play exasperate the issue including the reclassification of student-athletes as employees, the development of a free agency mechanism resulting in a bidding war for a select few athletes, the ability of most of these athletes to navigate this new role, etc. We see examples of this already in the S. Sanders situation, etc.

Just to sum things up. The unfortunate part of this is that sports were once an open door for kids with the desire, ability, work ethic, etc. to compete at a high level and possibly change their lives, will become more restrictive and create the haves and have-nots.
