This video is great. I searched and didn't see it mentioned anywhere. Apologies if it is (you can all yell at me and then delete it.) 
The basic conclusion of this video is that recruiting rankings are designed to predict a player's likelihood of being drafted, but aren't particularly good at it...especially at the high-end of performance (and for QBs, OL & LBs). And they aren't that good at predicting who will be an impact player in college (particularly for the OL.)
But there is a caveat...no team has won a college championship in the last couple of decades without at least one top ten recruiting class. Fascinating.
