The Tour moves down the California coast southward to the Los Angeles area and the Riviera CC this week. 5 Golfing J's will participate this week:

  • Roberto Castro - coming off a T10 finish at Pebble Beach last week and moved up from 88th to now 57th with that finish in the FedEx Cup standings
  • Stewart Cink - made the cut at Pebble Beach and is now 110th in the FECS
  • Matt Kuchar - makes a return to play after a little time off the past few weeks
  • Bryce Molder - was the hottest Golfing J heading into last weekend at PB, but did not make the cut...still, he is at 83rd in the FECS heading into this week's play
  • Cameron Tringale - like Kuchar, returns after a short hiatus from play the last couple of weeks...Cameron is still the highest ranked GJ in the FECS at 45th

TV coverage this upcoming weekend will again be via CBS (Sat 3-6pm, Sun 3-6:30pm). The last 2 weekends have seen GJ's with T10 finishes and contending on Sunday in final groups. 2 weeks ago it was Molder, last week it was Castro. Here's hoping we see at least one of these guys making noise this week at Riviera.

Note, this is the last Pacific Coast event for the Tour as it moves to Florida for the next 3 weeks coming up next week.

Will post tee times in reply once available.

I was thinking about playing golf. But I got a book to find out how. It started by saying take your balls out of the bag. Then clean them with a wire brush . Then put one ball on the tee and hit it when your club as hard as you can. It was then I knew golf was not my sport.

At least you haven't broken your leg when falling off the ball washer. Dang, that was embarrassing.

But, I digress.

Miniature Golf is for midgets. Putt Putt is for real men (and lesbians). Putt Putt and Bowling are probably the best 2 sports in the world. Putt Putt allows you to carry beer around with you during play and offers up great holes like the windmill. Plus, it is very easy to cheat. You can of course wager on every shot which makes it a great sport. Bowling is great too. I mean, there are very few sports where you get really cool shoes, the scoring is taken care of for you (not as easy to cheat anymore though which sucks), you get up and throw a ball down the lane, if you are really good you can go sit down and not have to do it again, and then the few minutes between having to get up you drink beer, eat wings and pizza, and check out the chick 3 lanes over with the halter top on and extremely tight shorts that say Bootylicious on the back.

But, again, I digress.

Laughed my ping driver off, reading all of those digressions. You were always a riot, but I think "depends" are going to be needed at my advancing age if you keep this up.

Any of you 6 ever play in the Tournaments at Putt Putt off Shallowford Road(Atlanta-Chambodia)? We played dollar day on Saturdays. My best memories are advancing to Nationals and winning prizes at the old GEX, about a mile away.

Kooch finishes -2.

Cink bogeys his final hole to finish -1. Frustrating for him as he was -3 thru 14 holes, but bogeyed his 15th and 18th (started on back nine).

Molder got off to a good start with a birdie on his first hole, then parring his next 9 holes and again getting a birdie at #11 to get to -2. But, he bogeyed 3 of the last 6 homes to finish at +1.

Castro and Tringale teeing off about now in the afternoon groups.

Round 1 was suspended late Thursday due to darkness with several groups still out on the course. Cameron Tringale was on his 16th hole. He had to come out early this Friday morning to finish the final holes to which he parred 16, bogeyed 17 and then finished with a birdie to get to +1. Then, he had to turn right around and tee off his regularly scheduled 2nd round. Perhaps that last birdie to finish up Rd. 1 got him going as he proceeded to shoot a -5 round of 66 today putting him at -4 for the tournament and in the top 20.

Kooch is -1 for the day thru 4 holes and -3 for the tournament. He and Cink are in the afternoon groups today. Cink is Even for the day thru 3 holes and -1 for the tournament.

The cut is hovering around Even par. Last week's top Golfing J, Roberto Castro, had a disappointing tournament as he finished +5 thru 2 rounds and is done. Molder is +2 thru 8 holes and needs to get hot to continue on to the weekend.

Kooch joins Tringale at -4 heading into Saturday's 3rd round. Both are tied for 22nd and 6 strokes off the lead.

Cink is Even for the tournament thru 16 today. Needs to play even over the last 2 holes to make the cut.

Molder finished at +1, 1 stroke off the projected cut.

Cink birdies his final hole to get to -1 and makes the cut. 3 Golfing J's move forward. Could we get yet another/different Tech alum in the top 10 this week? Stay tuned...

Kooch off to a strong start this Sunday. He has birdied 2 of the first 3 holes and inching back up into contention. Will need to post a very low score and get some help from the guys at the top (led by Bubbles "I Walk With a Corn Cob Up My Butthole" Watson) not having big days.

Kooch birdies #9 and #10 to get to -4 for the day thru 10 holes and now in the top 10 at -10 for the tournament...though, still 5 strokes back. Might yet another Golfing Jacket be a top 10 finisher for the 3rd week in a row? Stay tuned...
