This thread will serve as both the preview and discussion thread for today's matchup with Georgia Southern in Statesboro.

Th Eagles are 2-1, coming off a series win against West Virginia that has been discussed at length on JOL.

Tonight's matchup will be one freshman making his first career start and a seasoned veteran who considers himself to be a two-way guy.

GT RHP Luke Schmolke (Fr., 0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. GS RHP Jaylen Paden (Jr., 0-0, 0.00 ERA)

TWO EAGLE NAMES TO KNOW

Jesse Sherrill, 2B-

Sherrill's role as the leader of this Georgia Southern team is not in question. Georgia Tech fans will see plenty of him on Tuesday night, as he has been the lead-off hitter for the Eagles thus far the season.

The all-conference selection from last season is off to a hot start, finishing the weekend series with an OPS of 1.096,.429 AVG, 2 RBI, and 3 BB.

He's not going to hit the ball 400 feet on you, but what the transfer from Kennesaw State has shown the ability to do is get on-base. Last season he finished with a .932 OPS, leading the team in runs scored (62) and stolen bases (13), and tied for first in hits (79).

His ability to get on-base regularly while still being aggressive without striking out is something that could give Georgia Tech's pitching staff fits on Tuesday night.

Noah Ledford, 1B/DH-
Ledford lead the way in the series against West Virginia with 5 RBI, and is also the only player on the team currently with a HR. The RS Senior from Buford will have his chances to hit one out on Tuesday, as Georgia Tech struggled with command in their series against Miami (OH).

Ledford led the team last season with 17 homers, 19 doubles and 70 RBIs primarily at DH, while remaining at least semi-disciplined with a 43/37 SO/BB ratio.

First pitch will be at 6pm, and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Of note: Compton is out with his hamstring injury, and Kristian Campbell was not expected to play either when I checked with a source earlier today.
