Moments after Leftwich committed on Friday afternoon, the question was already out there: Who could be next to join the 2021 class, a class that now has 10 members heading into Memorial Day.

Let's take a look at five candidates this afternoon:

The list unsurprisingly starts at the quarterback position, where QB Chayden Peery seems to be close to a decision. Perry could announce as soon as this week, and many believe when he does, it will be to Georgia Tech. In fact, his FutureCast currently sits at 100% for the Yellow Jackets. Landing him would mean landing who they identified as arguably their top target at the position.

Following Peery on this list (which is in no particular order) is one of Jakiah’s teammates at Westlake, TE Leo Blackburn. Blackburn’s got offers from schools all over the country, and has the versatility to line up at both WR and TE at the next level.

Riverdale ATH/WR Derwin Burgess comes up next on the list. One of the more under-rated prospects in the state, Burgess has a ton of versatility, which is why schools have him on their respective recruiting boards at positions all over the field. He has said that he would like to be committed before the season starts, and an upcoming decision would fit that timeline.

Rounding out the list are Cameron Ball of Tri-Cities and OG Weston Franklin of Wayne County.

Ball and Franklin find themselves in somewhat similar places, in terms of where their recruitment stands at least.

Ball is being recruited as a defensive tackle by GT, a position that has just one spot remaining at in the class. Ball has stated repeatedly that he will take visits before committing anywhere. Those are just words, though, and as time goes on, schools around the country are starting to fill up in the trenches.

That brings me to the last member of this list. Franklin moved semi-recently back to GA after a stint at IMG Academy. He has offers from schools such as Michigan, Miami, Duke, and Virginia Tech among several others. Franklin and OL coach Brent Key have developed a strong relationship, and Key is a fan of his versatility and ability to line up at both OG and possibly C.
