Beesball...postseason thread

Kudos to BC for making it a few innings away from Omaha, but Jim Morris leads his team back to Omaha again with a 9-4 win. This is the 25th trip to Omaha for the Hurricanes program. I'd love to see the Canes win it all under the ACC banner for once.

Miami, UC-Santa Barbara, and Arizona have punched their tickets. West Coast is stepping up and advising they shouldn't be forgotten about.

Coastal Carolina, up 1-0, faces LSU in Baton Rouge with the chance of sending another SEC team home.

Oklahoma State, up 1-0, is tied in the 3rd inning 0-0 at South Carolina hoping to sweep and head to nearby Omaha.

Texas A&M, tied 1-1, hosts TCU tonight in hopes of getting a SEC team in.

Texas Tech, tied 1-1, leads ECU 3-0 in the 2nd in hopes of getting a Big 12 team into the CWS (with Okie State hoping to be a 2nd).

And down goes another SEC team at home. Okie State sweeps 2 at Columbia.

Of the 4 teams who have advanced so far, 3 have been road teams.

Texas Tech is up 11-0 over ECU and will join Miami as the only 2 teams so far who have won SR's at home.

Remaining...

FSU (1-0) at Florida...about to get started 6pm Sunday.

At 9pm tonight...

Coastal Carolina (1-0) at LSU
TCU (1-1) at Texas A&M

2 Big 12 teams in. 1 ACC. 1 Pac 12. 1 Big West.

Coastal Carolina with a walk-off single down the left field line, jubilation, 4-3 over Bengal Tiggers.

TCU punches a ticket.

FSU vs. Fla., Monday night for the final spot. This is the first super regional in history, which produced back-to-back shutouts.

10 ACC teams...the Noles need a victory tonight or it is just 1 to make it to Omaha.

7 SEC teams...all hosting regionals...the Gators need a victory tonight or the SEC is shut out of Omaha for the first time since 1992.

The road teams in the SR's have won 5 of 7 so far. Hopefully the Noles will make it 6 of 8.

ACC & SEC with all those bids not looking that great at the moment. If FSU can win tonight and then the Noles and Canes make some noise in Omaha, it will validate the ACC's strong season.

FSU was shutout. Not a good showing at all for them in that game.

On Sunday Louisville had a 3-0 lead going into the 9th with their best closer (some say the best in NCAA). Then he gives up a single, hits a player, walks one then gives up a walk-off grand slam. Talk about a bad way to end the season...

Joey Bart will take over as the #1 catcher next season and incoming freshman, Kyle McCann, and his much needed lefty bat to add to the order, will be the #2 starter.

If GT MBB was once Point Guard I and oddly FB has become Wide Receiver I, then GT Beesball has to be Catcher I.

Congrats to these guys. At least they have the time on their hands to consider their options, unlike their counterparts at Miami, FSU and Louisville.

Yep. Miami vs Arizona, 8pmET, Saturday, ESPN-2.

Weather forecast for Omaha looks pretty good. Would love to see Jim Morris and the ACC get another title.

Canes down 5-1 in the 8th. Barring a comeback, this has been a very disappointing postseason for the ACC - less BC surprising and winning a regional on the road.

'Canes lost 5-1, facing the double eliminating game now.

2-and-done for the Canes in Omaha. Lost earlier today to UC-Santa Barbara who sends home its 2nd ACC team (Louisville was the other in the Louisville SR).

Very disappointing postseason for the ACC. The non-ACC/SEC conferences and the western programs are making their case for far too much respect being given to the ACC & SEC this year.

College baseball is unpredictable in many aspects. I was surprised when only Miami made it through the Super-Regionals. Louisville really chocked bad against UCSB, up 3-0 bottom of the ninth at home.

Coastal Carolina in the finals. An announcer said Connor Owings is related to Micah who played for the D'Backs. Is he the youngest brother of our former Tech two-way player? Also, didn't Barzilli start out here at Tech, transfer and now finishing at TCU?

Arizona was picked for 9th preseason in the PAC. CCU was in a rebuilding year but Coach G.G. said everything fell right and with good health. Andrew Beckwith has been money. The lefty that got out of Dawg country has a nasty slider and curve.

Rained out. Thursday evening the game is on.

Today's CWS final will be on ESPN-U, FWIW. Had to schedule for afternoon game due to pending heavy storms rolling in tonight.

CCU, 1st Natl. Title!
If we "had" an opening, I don't think Gary Gilmore would leave there. Impressed with his record. Since 2000, they are one of the top programs in wins.
