The JJ's travel to Macon tonight for a 6pm first pitch. Looks like the weather is going to be nice.

The game will be streamed live via the SoCon Network's online offering... http://www.socondigitalnetwork.com/mercer

Mercer is 17-12 overall and 3-3 in the SoCon. Their current RPI is 95. This is the first meeting of the season between the two programs. Mercer heads to the Rusty C in 2 weeks on April 19, Tuesday, for the return matchup for the JJ's.

The Jackets then finish the season series with the KSU Owls Wednesday night at home - Tech's only home game this week before heading to Pittsburgh for what is going to be a chilly series (snow forecast on Saturday).

Told our RPI is 18th, #1 in this state.
Ranked 24th by both Collegiate Baseball and USA TODAY Coaches, and 25th by NCBWA.

Watching the live streaming. Mercer does a good job via the SoCon Network.

Good Guys looking good so far. Hopefully the JJ's can keep doing well tonight in Macon.

Well, so much for the big lead we built. The Bears get a single, a walk, and then a booooooomb to RF to cut the lead to 6-4. Ugh. Bottom 4th. Hopefully Pitts can get through this inning.

Stretching in Macon (and here in God's Country for that matter) with the JJ's up 6-5. Tech was in control earlier with a 6-1 lead but as we all know a 5-run lead in CBB isn't all that - especially in a midweek game.

Well, poor defense and a huge error repeats to put the JJ's into a bad situation in the bottom of the 7th. Ugh. Hopefully, the damage can be minimized.

Whew! Great job of pitching around that error and keeping the 1-run lead heading to the top of the 8th.

Need some runs, Jackets!!!

Bottom of the 9th and the JJ's still up 6-5. Need another save from Gorst here.

Lead off double off the LCF wall gets the tying run in scoring position for the Bears to lead off the 9th.

A huge 1-out K with the tying run on 3B. Need to get this last out and finish it off, Gorst!!!

And Gorst circle K's the last out. Huge job by Matthew. Strikes out the last 2 batters to end the game.

WOOHOO!

Good win, JJ's!!

The Orangenecks defeated the Cesspool at Hell last night, 11-6.

As we are now at the halfway mark to the regular season, here's how the ACC vs SEC looks so far in head-to-head matchups FWIW...

The SEC is 9-7 over the ACC so far.

Ole Miss 2-1 over Louisville
Florida 2-0 over FSU
Clemson 2-1 over South Carolina
Clemson 1-0 over Cesspool
Alabama 1-0 over Notre Dame
NC State 1-0 over Alabama
Florida 2-1 over Miami
Ga Tech 1-1 vs Auburn

Remaining head-to-head matchups (11)...

April 6: Louisville at Kentucky
April 12: Cesspool at NATS
April 12: Florida at FSU
April 12: Cheaters vs South Carolina (at Charlotte)
April 19: Kentucky at Louisville
April 19: Cesspool at Clemson
April 26: NATS at Cesspool
May 10: Louisville at Vanderbilt
May 10: LSU at Notre Dame
May 11: LSU at Notre Dame
May 17: NATS vs Cesspool at The Ted

Small factoid...

...the JJ's weekend starters this season...

Feb 19-21: Gold (vs Purdue), King (vs Western Michigan), & Hughes (vs VCU)
Feb 26-28 vs UMBC: Gold, Gibson, Hughes
Mar 4-6 vs Western Carolina: Gold, Gibson, Hughes
Mar 11-13 at FSU: Gold, Ryan, Hughes
Mar 18-20 vs Va Tech: Gold, Ryan, Hughes
Mar 25-27 at Cheaters: Gold, Gibson, Ryan
Apr 1-3 vs Duke: Gold, Ryan, Gibson

Gold has been the only consistency. I have no idea what's going on with King or Hughes. On the non-pitching front, I assume Gonzalez is in some kind of concussion protocol??? Perhaps we'll have him back soon???

I'm assuming we are going to start Ben Parr tonight at home vs Kennesaw State and ride him as long as we can before Charlie Wholestaff takes over.

Parr did not pitch at Macon last night. Nor did he pitch on Sunday in the Duke debacle. He did go an inning on Saturday giving up 2 earned runs.

Looking ahead - which I should not do I admit - as stated in the OP, the series at Pitt this upcoming weekend is going to be chilly, if not downright cold. Temps on Friday evening will be in the low 40's. The game Saturday will feature mid 30's and flurries. Sunday will be back in the 40's. Here's hoping our guys' bats do not freeze up like they did 2 years ago when at Pitt. To finish in the top 6 and avoid having to play our way into the ACCT, the series at Pitt is crucial.

JACKETS WIN!

22-7 after 29 games. Doing well in midweek games and continuing dominance over teams from the state. Let's hope that continues next Tuesday when the Cesspool stinks up the Rusty C.

Now, on to a big series at Pitt. Need to get at least 2 of 3.
