The 16-4 Jackets travel to 18-2 Cheaterville for a series which starts Thursday night.

Note, the Cheaters have moved the Friday game up a couple of hours from an originally scheduled first pitch at 7pm to now starting at 5pm. I guess they want everybody to get home in time to watch the Hoops Cheaters play Friday night against Indiana at around 10pm.

The Cheaters are currently #2 in the RPI - Tech is #19.

This is a huge in-division series for both squads. As pointed out in the Va Tech thread from this past weekend, Tech has won the season series over the Cheaters 5 of the last 6 seasons (last year the Cheaters broke thru with a 2-1 series win in Atlanta). Tech has won the last 3 series at Chapel Hell going 7-2.

The Thursday night game (6pm) will NOT be streamed via ESPN-3 (BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!) though is available via PPV at the Cheaters official Cheater webpage. The Friday night (5pm) and Saturday afternoon (2pm) games are scheduled to be streamed live via ESPN-3.

We need to get at least 1 win and preferably win the series. Hopefully, we will avoid another debacle like we saw in our last ACC road series in Tally 2 weeks ago.

I bet UNC people cheat at Easter Egg hunts too. Or, if caught, just deflect, deny, lie, and all that stuff they normally do.

Other ACC series this weekend...

Starting on Thursday
BC at Pitt
Notre Dame at Va Tech

Starting on Friday
NC State at FSU
Duke at Wake
Virginia at Louisville
Clemson at Miami

It looks like most of the biggest match-ups for the Jackets this year will be on the road. I am thinking getting one will be an accomplishment this weekend. 2 outstanding, is a sweep possible???

Weather should be nice at Chapel Hell. Perhaps some showers rolling in on Friday, but they should be in the morning and gone by first pitch.

Amen to that.

Tech is currently 2nd in the ACC in errors committed (31). Only Pitt (38) has more.

11 of those 31 errors came in our recent 4-game losing streak. Let's hope we don't play like a bunch of tee ball players in the field as we did in Tally (and then home vs Clemson Without A Lake).

Absolutely. They always do. In fact, I plan to be listening to Wiley B on the broadcast tonight.

He does a fantastic job. I'd give him an A, but he's a Tech student and The Shaft requires I give him nothing better than a C+.

Hopefully the game will get in today before the rain gets to NC..

Once they get started, the Jackets need to get an early lead, can't expect late innings to be there for the comeback.

pitch counts aren't a problem for him. 3 starts in a row might be just fine.

Has a coach ever used a starting pitcher like a closer, get the first 3 outs and you are done until tomorrow?

It's raining in Duluth! March still yields rain in Georgia!!
My car is black, thought it was a yellow one. Had a greenish tint above the rust spot.

Remember pollen JT622? They don't have that in God's Country do they? or Buddah territory?

Wiley B coming through loud and clear online here in God's Country. Zip to zip in the top of the 3rd.

And Buzzforlife, my friend, we most definitely get pollen up here in God's Country. Normally, about 3 weeks after you guys do. Heck, we just got snow flurries this past weekend. We're just lovin' getting close to being out of winter. Notice, I said "close". Not as many pines here so not nearly as much of that variety either.

Go JJ's!! Getting a W in Game 1 would take a ton of pressure off of our guys for the rest of their time at Cheaterville.

Good to know you are seeing our color of "yellow" as in jackets or going "green" when the pollen gets thick enough. Love that green in money....looking at several George Washington(s) right now, even though playing them next Tuesday would have been nice. MEG's were better than I thought this year.

We now need beesball to get a Regional.

How about that Matt Gonzalez and his hot bat?

JJ's tie it up 1-1 in the 5th. Still batting with bases loaded and 1 out. Gonzo is up and then Kel. Let's get more, Jackets!!!!

Tech is now up 3-1. Getting to the Cheater #1 starter. He's thrown a ton of pitches so far. JJ's have 8 hits and still batting in the 5th. Let's go, Joey Bart!! Keep it rolling here.

UNC's ERA is 2.51 2nd in the ACC

GT's BA is 0.325 best in the ACC

I hope both those numbers go up after this weekend.

So far so good, mate. JJ's chase the Cheaters #1 starter thru just 5 innings. Let's get more on this meat coming out of the pen, Jackets!!!

Tech up 3-1 in the top of the 6th.

Brandon Gold with another quality start. JJ's up 3-1 heading to the top of the 7th. We need some runs, Jackets. Let's do it.

Jackets give up a run and now head to the 8th up 3-2.

Come on, Tech!!

It's RALLY TIME!!

Fantastic start tonight for Brandon Gold. 7 1/3 innings...2 runs allowed (1 on base that belongs to him)...saved our pen thru 7 innings. Tech closer, Matthew Gorst, now in to hopefully save this one for the Good Guys in the bottom of the 8th.

Woohoo. Gorst closes down a mild threat by the Cheaters in the 8th.

Heading to the top of the 9th. Let's go JJ's!! Let's get some insurance.

Let's try these guys to see if they can help us...

Heading to the bottom of the 9th. Tech is 3 outs away from getting a huge game 1 win of the series. Let's go, Jackets!!!

JACKETS WIN!!

Way to go, JJ's!!

We've now won 9 of our last 11 at Chapel Hell.

That TBA starter of ours kicks ass. Woohoo!!

Coastal Standings...

1. Cheaters 5-2
T2. French 4-2
T2. Cuba 4-2
4. JJ's 4-3
5. Pitt 2-5
6. Rutgers-Durham 1-5
7. Buzzards 1-6

Starting to think King is done for the season again. Sad.

FWIW, Tech's win last night moved us up 7 spots to now #12 in the RPI. Get one of these next 2 and we'll be in the top 10 come Easter morning potentially. While I don't think the March Madness selection committee looks at the RPI much, if at all, I do think the Road to Omaha selection committee does.

Great game. The pitching for both teams was excellent. The Jackets needed that one. Now they have 2 chances to win the series. I'd love to grab that today... Go TBA pitch a gem for us tonight!

In the last 5 games during this winning streak, the JJ's have at least 10 hits in every game. We are averaging 14 hits a game and 1.67 per inning during this stretch.

Here's hoping the JJ's can keep the bats ringing.

Some bad luck for Gibson on a 3rd out that wasn't (due to a slip by our first baseman) has opened the flood gates early for the Cheaters. Bummer. Gotta come back.

Down 3-0 in the top of the 2nd, the JJ's have loaded the bases with no outs. Let's get some, Jackets!!!

Damn. Bad breaks for the JJ's so far. A rope liner turns into a DP and then a long fly to deep center is right at the CF to end the top of the 2nd with the JJ's getting nothing. Good news though is that we are getting really good swings on the Cheater starter.

Honesty compels me to admit that I gave up at 5-0. Had to pay a visit to a hospital room, purposely left the radio in the car.

Love this team, just a bad feeling tonight before the game about us. Call it the Gregory Karma.

Ryan, Dulaney, Carpenter, Gorst, are all available today.

Cheaters have issued zero, none, nada, zip, 0, walks in the first two games of this series.

JJ's up 1-0 in the first. RBI single from Gonzo. Still batting. Good start. Woohoo!!
