Analysis of 2015 Georgia
Tech Football Recruiting Class

QB - Campbell, Ratliffe

It was important to get at least one QB to compete to be the
successor to Justin Thomas. Campbell is
a good athlete. It's a shame that
Ratliffe got hurt and may not be able to play.

Prediction: Campbell will redshirt and Ratliffe will enter
school in January 2016.

BB - Lands-Davis, Marshall, Weimerskirch

GT returns only one B-back, C. J. Leggett, and he's never
played in a game. It was important to
get at least two guys who can play as true freshmen.

Prediction: Two will play as true freshmen.

AB - Marshall, Benson, Cottrell, Jarrett

GT returns four A-backs plus has transfer J. J. Green, so it
wasn't necessary to sign four at this position.
One of these scholarships could have been better used at another
position.

Prediction: Two will play as true freshmen mainly so all four
won't be in the same class.

WR - Philpott, Howell, Stewart

GT returns only three WRs so it was important to sign two or
three here.

Prediction: Two will play as true freshmen.

OL - Bryan, B. Morgan

GT returns several OL but you need to keep signing them every year to avoid a situation in the future with only one OL in a class. I think we needed a third OL signee.

Prediction: Both signees redshirt.

DT - Henderson, Glanton, S. Morgan

GT is very thin at DT.
Only three players - Gotsis, Gamble and Kallon - return at this
position. Getting Hunt eligible would be
huge. We needed to sign three DTs to
provide depth. Getting a transfer DT
would help a lot.

Prediction: Two signees play as true freshmen.

DE - Saint-Amour, Sellers

GT has several players returning at this position but could
use some help at the SDE position.

Prediction: Both signees redshirt.

LB - Alexander, Mitchell, Cooksey

GT has several players but only one starter returning at LB
but could use an injection of talent.
These LB signees should help with that.
Better talent at LB may mean more use of
4-3 defense.

Prediction: At least one signee will play as a true
freshman.

CB - Wigley, Dotson, Walker

GT has both starting corners returning plus top backup Step Durham. A little more height was needed at the
position and two of three signees are taller corners.

Prediction: One signee will play as a true freshman.

S - Gray, Curry

GT has one returning starter at safety, Golden, and one at
nickel back, Smith. To play a 4-2-5
defense, a lot of DBs are needed.

Prediction: One signee may play as a true freshman.

K/P - No signees

GT has returning starters at kicker and punter, but not much
behind them. Preferred walk-on Shawn Davis
could provide the needed depth since he can kick and punt.

Summary - The prediction is that 10-12 of the 27 signees
will play as true freshmen. Other than
being heavy on A-backs and light on OL, the balance of this class is good. Unlike some previous years, GT didn't reach
for many players. Putting together this
class was a very good job by the coaching staff.
