FOOTBALL Player Media Notes and Quotes 11/8

The players seem very focused this week. Not a lot of goofing around or playfulness ahead of the Clemson game. The media session was pretty dry as a result today with the players. Practice also ran a little bit longer than normal and they were not in pads today.

LAMILES BROOKS

On watching the Kobe Bryant video with the team on Sunday, It was really impactful, I pride myself on doing whatever it takes to win and doing whatever it takes to win. I don’t really care about anything else except winning when it comes to my team and my teammates. So it was a good video to see to get everybody in the right mind frame going into the week. We have a big challenge this week and hopefully that video will impact everybody and get everybody ready to play.

On the DBs this season and the progress, seeing what Jay King went through last year as far as his injury, Jay King was my host and to play along with CP Lee three-man wing rotation that we got going on is lovely.

On playing Clemson, I wouldn’t say that it brings out anything extra, maybe it brings out a little more this year than others, we have the expectation of winning, Clemson being our in conference rival brings out a little extra in everyone naturally.

On Clemson RBs, I wouldn’t say it changes my role, my role is to do whatever the DBs need to succeed and help the defense. Tackle running backs or covering guys, whatever happens we will be able to overcompensate to make things happen.

On beating Clemson, it is not different at all this week, it is a one game season and we prepare the same every week. We come out in practice and prepare the same way every week.

On the young guys, it is different for each one, last year we had CP forced into it. Eric Singleton is playing, Taye Seymore in our room is helping out and they could be one big mistake away from playing.

JORDAN WILLIAMS

On the Clemson being the best D they’ve face so far, I would probably say that. Coach tells us the best defense is the next defense, so we prepare for them like any other challenge. Just doing what we do for every other game.

On the OL playing well, we want to protect the QB and run the ball and we have confidence in each other, the success was going to come by the way we prepare and attack every day.

On playing RT next to Connor, me and Connor are good friends since he came in. On his visit I was with him. Our communication is pretty good and we’ve been working on it every day.

On Coach Wade, he puts an emphasis on knowing your assignment and if you mess up make sure you go 100% and they’ll fix it later. That is the biggest thing with the OL, just make sure everyone is playing fast and running to the ball and if they make a mistake make it at 100 MPH.

ERIC SINGLETON

On Clemson secondary, It is a very talented group like all the other groups, you have to prepare for the week and everyone has to ball out.

On the Clemson game meaning, I heard it means a lot and Coach Key talked about the record in practice and we need to go win.

On adjusting, getting hit was different from college to HS and that was an adjustment I needed to make.

On how defenses play him, of course if the defense knows someone is super fast they may not press, Clemson still presses a lot so we might see that.

On Kobe Bryant film, he just has the mentality that is the one you need to have you are dedicated to the sport and the grind.

Georgia Tech Golf Signs Two from Sweden

Top Swedish amateurs Albert Hansson, Didrik Ringvall Bengtsson sign letters-of-intent Wednesday

THE FLATSAlbert Hansson and Didrik Ringvall Bengtsson, two top European amateur players from Sweden, have signed letters-of-intent to join Georgia Tech’s golf program, Yellow Jacket head coach Bruce Heppler announced Wednesday.

Hansson is ranked No. 55 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and No. 2 in Europe, while Ringvall Bengtsson sits No. 770 in the WAGR and No. 181 in Europe.

“We feel really fortunate about signing Albert and Didrik,” said Heppler. “We saw them first at the British Boys Championship, and the interaction between them and their Swedish teammates was fascinating. We began to build a relationship with them, and Coach (Devin) Stanton did a really good job communicating with them and getting them to come see us. Albert came first and had a great time. He loved the golf courses and the practice facility. He went home and told Didrik how good it was. He flew over and had a similar experience.”

Boasting an impressive amateur resume, Hansson comes to Georgia Tech after winning the European Nations Cup-Copa Sotogrande in Spain and finishing as the runner-up at the St. Andrews Links Trophy, the Stora Hotellet Fjallbacka Open and the Spanish Amateur Copa S M El Rey in 2023. Hansson reached the final of the Spanish International Championship in March, finished sixth in stroke play at the 2023 Amateur Championship, and tied for 50th in the European Amateur Championship.

Ringvall Bengtsson enjoyed much success in junior circuit events in Europe, earning eight top-5 finishes over the past 12 months in events that counted toward his EGR ranking, including two wins and a runner-up finish in Swedish Junior Tour Elite events. He won the Stenson Sunesson Junior Challenge and posted runner-up finishes at the 2022 R&A Boys Amateur Championship, the Teen Tour Elite #6, the Swedish Golf Team Invitation, and the GTT Finale-Sweden Invitational.

“They’re older (will be 20 when they enroll at Tech), very mature young men,” added Heppler. “I expect a lot of leadership and maturity from them. Albert has had a phenomenal summer, ranked as high as 29th in the world. Didrik continued to play well in junior golf. We’re getting two really mature guys who are best friends and will push each other. The team will be a big part of their experience, because that’s what they know where they’re from. I can’t wait for them to get here, and they’ll be huge additions to this program. They should be ready to go from the first day. They’re mature, well-rounded players who know how to do everything very well.”

Good AJC article on Jaeden Mustaf from Chad Bishop

Discusses his signing today with GT and other topics. I know many people won't pay for AJC access but this is a good article if you can find it.

HOOPS RECRUITING Early Signing Period Preview..

No drama expected tomorrow regarding either of the two public Georgia Tech hoops commits..

Big man Cole Kirouac will sign with GT at 8am.

Rivals Top 60 G Jaeden Mustaf will sign with GT at 12:30 during a ceremony at OTE.

With spots remaining, all eyes are on who I believe are the top two remaining targets at this time-

Mustaf joked with me that every time he has the chance to play with or see Sutton that he is in his ear about playing together in college.

FOOTBALL Brent Key Media Avail Quotes 11/7

Happy birthday to Harper, big day in the Key household. She had her door decorated and she is having a party at school right now. We had practice so I couldn’t take her favorite players to see her.

A great win Saturday at a place that has been hard for Georgia Tech to win at, very proud of the staff, players and org. The challenge to all of us to have accountability and to be the best version we can be.

Players of the Week:
D- Jaylon King- he is flying around and playing like a 9th year senior should be (joke). Him and Spider and the other veterans back there played well.
O- Jamal Haynes
SPT- Two guys David Shanahan and Dom Blaylock, we knew it would be a field position game and the way they wanted to play the game. Winning the field position battle by 10 yards. David 3 inside the 20 and 2 inside the 10 and one he’d like back and then Dom had a great punt return. The punt team and punt return team did a nice job. Allows me to have a four down or take a delay mentality to lay it up, and that was a good outcome. We have to get better at some other teams.

This week there is no guarantee and there is some truth to it, when you put the right things in and put in your standard, our standard good things happen. When you don’t bad things happen. That is what we discussed this week. We want the outcome we want, then on Saturday at noon to have the outcome we want.

We have to elevate our standards, I won’t ask a coach or player to play bigger than can, I just want them to be the best they can be at their top level. Don’t play out of your mind or over your head, I don’t believe in that.

Kobe Bryant talked about being obsessed with winning and sticking to the standard for himself, we watched a video on Kobe on Sunday. Talking about the obsessive nature to win the game and be the best you can be, that is the next step for us. The obsessive desire to win. Not playing with anxiety or timidness, but playing the best you can every single day, week or month. You want that obsession with winning and doing everything you can at the best level.

We are getting ready to play the best team against Clemson, my 8th straight year playing against them and I’m excited to play them and we’ve had some success against them and some not. They’ve set a standard for our conference on playing good football.

On Connor Scaglione, he has done a nice job and the OL are getting better every week. I’m really proud of him. When he got here in the summer, it wasn’t just the shock of camp, but the humidity of the South and he continued to progress through camp and the season and he is getting better every week.

On the veterans, we don’t look past today, we prepare for tomorrow and don’t worry about the future. You want to be in the moment.

On Leo, it would be bionic if he could come back, 5 months on an ACL would be a record.

On other injuries from the game, Ahmari had a lower ankle injury he was out there today, progressing faster, he was running up and down the sideline to get loose. He is a competitive guy. Kenan played a great football game, he got banged up a few games ago, he has elevated himself. He got hit in the thigh he is a full go. If you see the play Horace made, he is a big man making a play down the line of scrimmage. I was worried about the poor kid from UVA. Horace will bounce back, he was out there smiling and laughing, hopefully he is a full go and can give us reps on Saturday.

On Clemson, first thing is worrying about ourselves and being the best version of ourselves and having the best plan of attack and playing fast. Going in there it is stadium with 2 end zones and 53 ½ across and 120 total yards with a big hill people roll down, it is similar to UVA and Wake there, but it gets loud. We will prepare with crowd noise every day. We are preparing for that. They are a good football team. I don’t look at records, there are things Dabo is doing to play to the strengths of his team. Don’t forget his college coach, Coach Stallings, he knows how to win games old school. The defense is the standard and as good as anyone in the country. They have good players who are older and offensively they are finding an identity and that led to success last week.

On a win at Clemson would mean, It would be the next game, but each week is a season there is no tomorrow after Saturday as far as we are concerned and we will lay it all on the line and take our punches and anybody that has seen our team after the win last week and how excited they are. It is another team, but they are the standard for our conference and what they’ve accomplished is remarkable in the last 12 years and what they’ve done, it would be big, but we are not going to make it more than it is, that is when the anxiety and the emotion take over.

On game prep that works for away games, we’ve adapted the schedule and this has been a set plan since the summer for practice plans, we’ve stuck to that model of adapting practices week-to-week, the key is player availability.

On Dylan Leonard stepping up and the TEs stepping up, Dylan as a weapon as far as catching the football?, #2 is playing as good as any TE in the country blocking with core blocks, moving blocks on the perimeter I cannot be more proud of that kid right now. He bleeds white and gold and is all about this place. Watch the way he plays, 45-60 plays in the game, he is Georgia Tech. That is the GRIT, the toughness and the way he plays every week. To get 2-3 catches is a bonus for this team, that entire position group is playing as good as the TE position anytime in my career. I’ve told every one of them and we are able to put more volume into our offense because of their experience and toughness. Luke has done so much out wide and into the core. Not everyone can catch it, we had 10 guys with catches and that shows what Buster and the O staff can do. #2 has been able to do for us offensively, holy cow, I mean he is a vital key core in what we are doing.

On Eddie, he had production in the run game and TFLs and the one where he tipped the swing pass is something I’ve only seen once or twice, he is maturing and I stopped him on Sunday and to see his growth and maturity it is really starting to show on the field.

A few words

I want to start saying a few things about what has happened the past few weeks that has been a little crazy. First of all I know we can all be a tad bit snarky when it comes to your right I’m right. I’m wrong you’re wrong. This board is my family and will always be my family, thank you Kelly and Russell for always doing everything you both do.

I get mocked for not being smart or either being laughed at for having an opinion. I need to stop my self from laughing at someone’s opinion because it’s not right to laugh because that’s, that person opinion. We already are living a life that is unbearable, some may not be able( including my self) take things as easy as some.

I’m not looking for attention nor am I looking for anything. I love you all even the ones that have hated me or completely disagreed with me but I wanted to take a second out of my life and say I’m behind you all, NO matter what.

Which play do you think was the most pivotable one in the UVA game on Saturday?

KQ- To me it was the hit on Tony Muskett and the pick by Myles Sims on that play. It showed GT just wanted it more and it changed the entire game plan for UVA. They were planning to redshirt Anthony Colandrea and apparently, he was not in the mindset to even play in that game hence why they brought in the other QB first who is their short yardage tush push QB.

Please tell us what you can about the saga of Our Best Running Back, Dontae Smith. He's obviously the guy. Some folks say he was hurt; some say no. Others say he was in Coach's dog house; others say no way. He has always had the intangibles that a good RB needs - so why haven't we been seeing lots of him during his senior campaign?

KQ- That is up to Dontae Smith to share. You guys and gals are not entitled to know everything that goes on within a program. I'm very happy for Dontae and he has been one of my favorite kids to cover since I met him in HS. Both Dontae and Brent Key have declined to share more about it. I will say going into the season Key told me they were going to be careful with Dontae's workload as well.

Why are so many people on here so miserable all the time?

KQ- I think it reflects the current tenor of our society. People want to be miserable and hate the politicians who have opposite views and act like they are the devil or the guy who cut them off on the highway or the dude who got the last banana at the grocery store. I'm not sure what the hell it is about and I'm guilty of it myself at times, but it is ugly and we need to strive to be better and find common ground with everyone.

We continue to make offers to 2024 recruits. With 2 dozen or so commits, what is our strategy?

Are we concerned about large quantities of decommits? Are we not excited with some commits and wanting to upgrade? Do we expect large player turnover after the season?

I am sure it is a little of each. What do you think is the main driver!

KQ- At @Russell Johnson can share his thoughts, but there will still be more attrition from this team as guys graduate quickly or some who aren't playing or don't fit in are processed. Key has 18 months to move kids off the roster and keep them on scholarship academically as he wishes. He is trying to fix some roster issues here and there and patch holes with the portal. They are also recruiting guys because no one is signed yet so you need backup plans and plan B or C guys ready to roll. Some are also long shots.

Out of the 17 teams that will play in the ACC next year, what is your best guess for where GT stacks up in the amount of NIL/Portal money Key will have to work with?

KQ- I have no idea whatsoever. No one actually knows much about the budgets for most of these programs. GT isn't in the top 5 and they are not at the bottom either. They are in the middle ground somewhere.

How much of a difference do you think playing in December makes to holding the class together and upgrading, or does one win from 5-7 to 6-6 not make that huge of a difference to recruits who aren’t used to seeing GT in bowls anyway at this point?

KQ- I think it helps against negative recruiting but that is about it.

What steps do you think Key needs to take in the offseason? Hes already a better coach and seems to have a better plan than GC5 and i can see some real movement for our program, but obviously work still needs to be done!

KQ- It is a two-fold thing, they have to figure out the defensive piece. Staff, personnel and the most important part to me player development now becomes a big thing. He has to max out what he is getting from what they have. On the offensive side, you try to keep the band together and find a big RB to replace Dontae Smith and probably a dynamic TE to replace Dylan Leonard as a full-time starter who is done after this year.

How much of this offensive explosion has been because the OL is finally starting to come together?

KQ- I think a lot of the credit goes to Geep Wade and what they've done on the OL and some to Key as well who brought in all the pieces except for Connor Scaglione who both Key and Wade brought in. This is what happens when you develop internally and build up a line over time. Weston Franklin is in his third year here playing, Joe Fusile year two, Jordan Williams year four, Corey Robinson year two and Ethan MacKenny is a first-year guy that they kept an eye on for several years before signing him.

How big has Dontae been for that RB group? He and Jamal are a force!

KQ- This goes back to why the ground game was effective with Jahmyr Gibbs and Jordan Mason, thunder and lightning. Unfortunately, they didn't have those two healthy for much of the 2021 season or 2020 season and the QB play was spotty with Jeff Sims, but with effective passing and running from the QBs you can really grind teams up when they guess wrong, especially on RPOs. Sims didn't have a lot of control over the RPOs either and many of his plays were just read-option runs while King has all three and you have to play that way for it to work.

When do we sign Key to an infinitely contract extension?

KQ- Where is Dave Braine when GT needs him?

Be honest KQ.. we are going bowling this year aren’t we?

KQ- I hope so.

HOOPS Basketball Season Tickets Mess

After multiple calls to ticketing office still did not receive my tickets for the game last night. No big deal I did not make it back in time from flight in time to attend. Today I call and they finally issue tickets. Except, these aren't the seats I paid for. They had sold me tickets already purchased by someone else then tried to move me up a row and behind the basket without saying anything until I called back again. Response to that was to move me 7 rows farther up did not accept that and am now waiting on a call from a manager.

Pretty disastrous by GTAA/ticketing. Not the experience I had hoped for first year getting season tickets. Sorry for the rant that effects nobody else but, this board seems the best place to have a melt.

WAR ROOM, PT. 1: OFFENSE

Part two will be released later this week after I confirm some whispers of some news in the works on the defensive side of the ball.

*** We start off this edition as we do every war room- do not hint at anything posted below on social media, post online anywhere, or go around sharing this in your group messages. ***

Coming off the win against North Carolina last week under the lights, It isn’t hyperbole to say that Georgia Tech is currently the topic of conversation in the Southeast.

Whether it be local recruits beginning to reassess the situation on The Flats, recruits in the central and south part of the state giving the program a second look, or even those outside of the state lines, everyone is taking notice of what Georgia Tech has done the last two times out on ACC Network in Primetime.

Given the time between now and the Early Signing Period (which begins on December 20th) a lot of Georgia Tech’s top targets are already “verbally” committed elsewhere. Due to that, things are going to look a little bit different this War Room. I will avoid saying the ole “they are going to wait for the portal” as much as I can.

Let’s get to it..

At the quarterback position, at least in the 2024 class, there is no real news to report. I’ve talked to several talent evaluators and colleagues in the recruiting industry in the state of Texas in recent days and weeks. The near consensus is that they are unsure why the closer to home schools, particularly in-state, have not been more aggressive in their pursuit of the Southlake Carroll QB.

One source said that earlier in the season, there may have been an attempt or two that was rebuffed by both Graham and his dad, tennis legend Mark Knowles.

“He’s been locked in on Georgia Tech and Coach Weinke ever since the day he committed.”

Knowles got the chance to see the team’s performance in-person for the first time on Saturday, a trip he won’t soon forget. One has to think that the performance of QB Haynes King, a fellow Texas native now at GT, resonated with Graham and his family.

Long-time QB commit Aaron Philo, the recruit that almost any commit you talk to mentions when contemplating who the leader of the class is, has been busy recruiting in recent weeks.

Philo, the No. 2 passer in the state of Georgia with nearly 3,000 yards passing and close to 400 yards rushing, has been a regular on the GT campus. Following the loss to Bowling Green, many were wondering if things were set to fall apart in recruiting, and the highly-rated players who had been committed were going to search for greener grass.

Philo helped steady the ship, and after talking to some around the Athens area, the picture is starting to become clearer on what his biggest traits are off-the-field.

“He’s a natural leader,” said one source. “Not the lead by example type, but the type to get in your face and work to get things corrected.”

Both Philo and Knowles are enrolling early, and while the QB position currently has several scholarship QB’s, both Philo and Knowles, pending some departures, are likely to see meaningful snaps in the spring.

Wrapping up the QB notes, it is important to note the fact that OC (Buster Faulkner) was able to land his guy in Aaron Philo, and current QB coach (Weinke) was able to land his with Knowles.

Moving over to the running back position, a spot where there is a ton of interest, and a ton of competition emerging locally for the 1-2 spots remaining in the class.

Before we get to listing all the talented running backs in the state, let this serve as a reminder that today, October 31st, commit Trelain Maddox is having surgery on his knee to repair a torn ACL, among other injuries.

Let’s take a look at the backs in the state of Georgia, that my sources indicate have mutual interest in Georgia Tech as the regular season winds down-

North Cobb, David Eziomume (Clemson)
Mary Persons, Duke Watson (Louisville)
Columbia, Jadan Baugh (Arkansas)
Wayne County, Matthew Fuller (South Carolina)

The plan will be to have each of the above on campus and around the program as much as possible the rest of the season, especially beginning with the performance against UNC put on by the RB room.

With Smith leaving after the season, and the uncertainty behind Trey Cooley, this was always going to be a bigger RB class, in more ways than one. Former commit Jaedon Matthews got the short end of the stick this season with his team’s schedule, but from what I have been told, the decision was more of a development/growth related thing rather than being statistic based.

While new offers could still go out at the position, let’s dive a little bit deeper into the situation.

Of the four backs listed, only Duke Watson is committed to a team that is either meeting or exceeding expectations thus far. Arkansas, South Carolina, and Clemson are all having subpar seasons by their standards, and as a result these are not the only commits on their list that are looking around a bit.

Eziomume saw GT RB coach Norv McKenzie on Friday night at his game. It was Senior night on Friday for him and his North Cobb teammates, but that was not the only ceremony the two experienced together over the weekend.

Georgia Tech needs to capitalize, both on the field and off. A level of consistency as a program the next two weekends on the road could lead to an even bigger crowd, leading to a better environment, and to catching the attention of guys in the 2024 class and beyond.

There is a lot to uncover still regarding the RB position and what the final tally will be when the ink is dry in late December. What cannot be overstated, though, is the impact that the performance against UNC has caught the attention of several who in the past may have overlooked the opportunity less than an hour from home.

Switching gears to the WR position, a spot where there is a lot more answers than there are questions remaining.

The mysteriously random official visit last weekend from four-star Mich. WR Nicholas Marsh is not expected to amount to much of anything in the end. While his admiration for former GT WR Calvin Johnson cannot be ignored, the decision to bring Marsh in on an official visit is one that from talking to sources they would not repeat if they had the chance to go back and do it again.

With a class including nationally coveted Isiah Canion and TD machine Trey Horne in-state, and playmaker Koby Young from New Orleans, there has been a clear emphasis placed on upgrading the depth of the WRR room.

Two high-profile targets that Georgia Tech has made efforts to recruit on several occasions, and for one even hosted for an official visit can officially be crossed off the board-

Colquitt County, Ny Carr
Statesboro, Kam Mikell

Mikell made the decision to visit GT for the UNC game at the very last minute, and despite his attempts, was unable to find a place to stay near GT on such short notice. He is now down to Tennessee, Georgia, and Colorado from what I have been told.

WR coach Josh Crawford made every effort possible to get Ny Carr, a player he is very familiar with, on campus for a game but in the end fell short. If Miami’s season continues to go downhill, and GT is able to continue their offensive output, this is one that could be re-assessed, but for now it is safe to say Miami’s offer on the table is currently the leader in the clubhouse for Carr’s signature.

Don’t be surprised if he visits for the UGA game.

FOOTBALL GT Bowl Projections after Week 10

Jerry Palm CBS- Military Bowl 12/27 vs Memphis
Athlon- Gasparilla Bowl 12/22 vs Florida

Feels a little like 1997

We had gotten past the disappointing Lewis era, Coach O'Leary had brought discipline, credibility, and competency back to the program.

Lil' Joe showed great improvement at QB and gave reason for optimism to those of us that had suffered through an awful stretch.
He went from 7 TD/13 INT in '96 to 12 TD/7 INT in '97...

We made a bowl game (West Virginia) and won after a 5 year dry run. It gave the program a big dose of energy and set the stage for an awesome experience in '98... The feeling this year makes me think about that year. Lots of pieces in place, just needed to learn how to win.

Biggest difference now is the transfer portal and NIL... honestly I'm not sure what that means for us, to what extent can/will we compete in that world.

Thanks to our new sponsor Inteleca for helping bring back Q's Take my weekly look at things around GT and college sports from my vantage.

As I’ve maintained for several weeks going back to the Bowling Green, progress isn’t a linear path and it took this Georgia Tech team some time to find their feet, but the have and are now a tough out capable of playing with teams on the schedule. The win at Virginia showcased how the team plays together and complimentary football.

It was encouraging to me that they kept their foot on the gas and even overcame some bad calls and penalties to keep in control of the UVA game. That was a game that would’ve slipped away earlier in the season as they lost momentum but they just kept humming along other than two drives in the game where maybe they got a little too conservative with the big lead on offense.

Does that mean they will beat UGA or Clemson, games they will be double-digit underdogs in? No. Does that mean they’ll have a shot if they play well? Yes.

The margin of error is pretty thin and they created enough despite some bad penalties on defense extending UVA drives multiple times in the last game. Haynes King held on to the football and made plays with his legs when the passing game wasn’t there.

The running game and the balance between Dontae Smith and Jamal Haynes was what everyone expected early in the year and Smith has proved to be the complimentary piece to Haynes’ dynamic speed and space running whereas Trey Cooley wasn’t powerful enough to fill that void.

The linebacker play is still inconsistent and that is hurting in the run defense numbers and they will have to clean that up to have a shot this week with Clemson. Clemson just played bully ball with a pretty stout Notre Dame defense and that doesn’t bode well for the Jackets going into this game.

I don’t know what to expect from GT in these final three games, but I think they will play hard and will figure out a way to go bowling and that will help get people back on the bandwagon. A win at Clemson would be a nice way though to get bowl eligible for the Jackets…

Clemson is a mature program led by a man who is a tremendous recruiter and they still have loads of talent on both sides of the ball. It will be interesting to see how the Tigers respond to finally winning a big game this season as well. Did Tyler galvanize Dabo's team? Or was that just an emotional response to the moment? This is the first time in a while where I think GT has a decent shot going into this game and that actually has me oddly more concerned that it will go the other way... The last two games were extremely tight games with an ejection of Charlie Thomas paving the way last year for Clemson to pull away and a bad penalty wiping out a touchdown and a missed block away from an upset in the last trip to Death Valley.

It will be an interesting test to see where the Jackets are at though. For the first time in many years, I'm not totally dreading making the drive up to Clemson, SC expecting to cover a beating. That is never fun unless the school you are covering is the one throwing haymakers.
