Volleybees hosting Duke & Wake this weekend

The Volleybees (15-9/6-6) host Duke (12-10/7-5) tonight at O'Keefe at 7pm. The VB's have a shot at going on a nice run here and it starts tonight against a squad we haven't beaten since 2007. The Blue Devils come in hot on a 4-game winning streak. Prior to that streak they went on a 10-game streak where they went 3-7. This is the kind of match the young Volleybees need to take care of at home to continue to show progress in the program, get to 20+ wins, and especially if they have any chance of getting on that NCAAT bubble.

Sunday at 1pm the Jackets host Wake (10-14/2-10) in what hopefully is a shot at a 3-game winning streak. The Deacs have lost 4 straight and 9 of their last 10. Their 2 ACC wins this year have come at home against a decent Virginia team and a win on the road at Notre Dame.

Both matches this weekend will be streamed live via ESPN-3.

Great 3-0 sweep tonight over Duke. First win over them since '07. Tech led all 3 sets pretty much the whole way thru though each one was very tight throughout.

Outstanding crowd at a jam packed O'Keefe. Great win, Volleybees! Nice start to the weekend.

Volleybees were taken to the wire by the Deacs, but pulled out the 5th set, 15-13. We came out flat and lost the 1st set before winning the next 2 (set 3 in dominating fashion). But, to Wake's credit, they hung in there and forced the final set which was very close from start to finish.

Good weekend. Jackets now move to 17-9/8-6 and now host basement dweller, Clemson, at O'Keefe Wednesday at 7pm. SWMBO and I are going to see the Volleybees play this upcoming Saturday night in Gay Paris, so looking for us to be 18-9/9-6 and on a 4-match winning streak when they show up to hopefully take down the Frenchies. With today's win, the Volleybees have now won 4 of their last 5 matches.
