The 15-11/5-8 Lady J's have had the week off since blowing out lowly Clemson this past Sunday to prepare for the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium Sunday. This is Senior Day for the Blue Devils as it is their final home game of the regular season. Duke has been struggling of late since having to do without the A.C.C.'s 2nd leading scorer - towering 6'6" post Azura Stevens who was averaging 19.1 ppg - due to a foot injury. They have lost 3 of their last 4 and 4 of their last 6. They are coming off a close win in Blacksburg last night (Thursday) by 4 points. It is unclear whether Stevens will be back and if so, when. She did not play at Blacksburg last night.

The game will be carried via Duke's Live Video package. It is unclear to me whether it is free or PPV. Here's the link to access the live video link if you want to check Sunday around tip time... http://www.goduke.com/liveEvents/liveEvents.dbml?SPSID=22762&SPID=1846&DB_LANG=C&db_oem_id=4200

Duke, 18-10/7-7, is very much on the NCAAT bubble and needs this game badly to enhance their chances. They have a very winnable road game finale against the Cheaters after a week off to freshen up the legs and prep. Duke already blew out the Cheaters by 16 pts earlier this season at CIS. Their RPI is a respectable 45 and their RPI SOS is a solid 18th in the nation.

There were no significant surprises in the A.C.C. last night. ND blew out Wake in Winston as expected which moves the Deacs to 6-8 in the A.C.C., just a half game ahead of the LJ's for the 8th spot in the conference. Virginia, as expected, lost by 15 to Louisville, which means the LJ's have a full game lead over them for the 9th seed. UVA, UNC, and Pitt are all now tied at 4-9. Virginia has lost 7 of its last 8 games, but should get a W this Sunday hosting hapless Clemson. They also have very winnable games next week hosting the Cheaters and then traveling to Blacksburg (who they lost to at home by 20 a couple of weeks ago though).

Tech of course has very winnable games remaining on the schedule as well...starting with Duke Sunday. Tech has a legit shot at qualifying for the WNIT if we can get to 18 wins come time for selections. That means either sweeping the remaining regular season or win 2 of these last 3 and get a W at the A.C.C.T. Both are "doable". Finishing with the 8th or 9th seed has upside in that you avoid playing on Day 1 at the A.C.C.T., but the downside is even if you win, you get Notre Dame in the next round. Having said that, the Lady J's actually played the Irish about as well as anybody not named Louisville in the conference this year in both games.

Back to Duke...without Stevens, the Devils turn to 6'1" R-So. Guard Rebecca Greenwell as now their main option for scoring as she is Duke's other double digit scorer at 14.6 ppg. Last night in Blacksburg, Duke outrebounded the Hokies 40-24 which is no surprise because the Hokies have no inside game at all. Duke shot 50% from the field and 46% from outside the arc. Yet, they only won by 4 (though down by 1 with just over a minute to go). This is primarily due to carelessness with the ball as Duke committed 22 turnovers. Tech should be fresh and hopefully can jump on Duke early.

This is a big game for both teams' postseason hopes as well as positioning for A.C.C.T. seeding. A Tech win would give great optimism to not only finish off another strong February run, but the 7-seed at the A.C.C.T. is within grasp as well as an important tie-breaker head-to-head over Duke is notched. Tech of course last season finally broke a 20+ year losing streak to the Devils at home on Senior Night in late February (though our only senior was on crutches). Hell, let's make it 2 in a row and start a streak for us, Lady J's! How 'bout it.

Go Lady Jackets!

The link to the Duke multimedia site shows that the streaming there is a premium pay option. Bummer.

Looks like I'll have to "settle" for a date with that loser, Beesball Richard. ;););););)

Good grief, what an ugly game Richard is having to call.

Duke is on pace to commit near 30 turnovers after the 1st quarter. Tech is ice cold from the field going 1 of 17 (a Peresson 3-pointer). Ugly. Maybe that is a good thing though as Tech won't stay this cold the entire game I doubt.

Duke leads 10-5 after 1 quarter.

Good start to the 2nd quarter for the Lady J's. Shots now starting to fall. Duke on pace for near 40 turnovers. Keep the pressure up, LJ's. Old school Coach Jo ball is in order.

Duke opened the game with a 10-0 lead with 5:04 left in the 1st quarter. Tech has outscored them 14-0 since and now leads 14-10 3 minutes into the 2nd quarter. Duke has gone scoreless for 8 minutes.

Tech wins the 2nd quarter, 24-18, and takes a lead to the locker room, 29-28. Nice!!

Can't ever remember us taking a lead at halftime at CIS - for that matter, we normally are down 20+ at halftime at CIS.

This is a game the Lady J's can get. Peresson with 4 3-pointers so far. Whiteside with only 2 pts.

Tied at 43 heading into the 4th now. Let's go Lady Jackets!!!!

Swiping a road win in Durham, New Jersey, would be terrific. Hopefully, the gals will make the plays down the stretch. Whiteside with only 4 pts so far. Would be a great time for her to heat up.

Gotta start getting those shots down low to fall. Kat has 10 points. I think we are 10-1 when she gets double figures.

Duke commits its 21st turnover of the game with a little over 8 minutes left.

Peresson with her 5th 3-pointer. And then, Rogers gets a 2. 8-0 run to start the 4th quarter.

Oh hell yesssss!

The Italian Assassin, Peresson, hits her 6th 3-pointer!!

A career high. Keep feeding her, Jackets.

Great to see Peresson step up along with the rest of the team on a day when Whiteside especially isn't giving us her normal 20 pts.

Tech up by 7 at the last media TO with 4:54 left. As Big Al used to say... "we got a thrillah brewing here, brothers and sisters"

Let's go, Jackets!!! Bring it home. This could be huge.

Huge bucket for Whiteside to get back to a 5-pt lead with 1:58 left. Need a defensive stop here. Aaliyah has 9 boards so far.

Huge offensive rebounds on consecutive possessions helps us run the clock down to under 30 seconds. Duke now having to foul. Gotta make FT's down the stretch to swipe this win.

Tech up by 3 with 18 seconds left and we have the ball. Get the ball to Whiteside and Duke will send her to the line. Tech has a chance to get to 6-8 in the A.C.C. here and move to 4-2 in February. 2 very winnable games left to get to even .500 on the regular season and inch closer to yet another 20+ win season for Coach Jo.

2 big FT's by Rogers and Tech is going to win in Durham for the first time since 1993.

Awesome! Opened the game down 10-0 and stormed back to get the W.

Super win for the Lady J's and now we've beaten the Blue Devils for the second straight time after losing to them for 20+ years.

Should be a fun ride home from New Jersey.

Woohoo!!!!

If Tech wins its last 2 games, we earn the 7-seed at the A.C.C.T. Next game at Pitt on Thursday at 7pm (game streamed via ESPN-3 though always fun listening to Richard...hopefully I can sync it...have been successful a couple of times this season).

Noticed Rogers playing in the NC-NCSt. game. Must be from Rodney. Remembered he had at least one other daughter being recruited.

Top 6 teams are set. Which positions they take are still TBD. So, not shot at #6. Win the last two and we are the #7 seed.

The #7 seed starts on Day 2 and gets the winner of the 10 vs 15-Clemson game from Day 1.

About to leave the Durham city limits. What a great win. Well deserved. Kat and AP were both terrific.

Richard said the Duke player fouled AP pretty hard and Ciani said something to the Duke player that originally Richard immediately thought was a tech on CC, but after the review of the video by the refs, they came out also throwing a T on the Duke Spaniard. Richard admitted he was far above the clouds in the rafters trying to figure out what was going on (read: not near the floor like he normally is and is in ear shot of what's being said) so could have gone down slightly different than he called initially.
