On tonight's show one of the callers quizzed CPJ as to why he passed the ball with greater frequency at Hawaii than he has at Navy and GT. His response was amazingly candid. He said that he too would like to see us throw the ball more than 8 times in a game. In fact, he stated that he believes when our offense is operating at maximum efficiency we are throwing it 15 to 20 times per game. Frankly, I was stunned at that response. Have we ever thrown the ball more than 15 times in a game where we were in control offensively?
He went on to state that the reason we don't throw it that many times is we aren't consistently good at it (my reaction listening was.....of course we aren't........we don't do it enough!). Finally, he stated that maybe he just needs to commit to throw on 1st down, and if that misses do it again on 2nd and 3rd downs.
