The Big 12 is primed to finally expand to at least 12 and the ACC wants to turn the heat up on Notre Dame who is contractually obligated to the ACC until 2025. The league would be happy to add UConn and ND and call it a day at 16.
Notre Dame has the same issue that the Big 12 is wrestling with in regards to the lack of a conference championship game possibly screwing them at some point. The Big 12 study says that playing in a conference championship game improves playoff odds by 10-15%.
The wild card is playoff expansion, but I still think we are a few years away from that.
Is there a P5 team you would rather see join the ACC other than UConn? Thoughts on more expansion?
