Week 7 Recap: Kudos to Buzzforlife for a week-best 8-2 record!! On the strength of his 6-4 week, SPRITE6 takes a 2-game lead at the top of standings. Buzzforlife looks like the September version of the Braves that is near the basement but now breathing life. I am the Twins and looking for the first pick in next year's draft at the bottom.

SPRITE6 40-27 (59.7%)
Texwood 38-29 (56.7%)

6)TCU +5.5
7)Alabama -16.5
8)Arkansas +9.5
9) Penn State +19.5
10) LSU -5.5

11) Bye +0 ( Looking for a great game with Tech but I'll go with Bye Tech will rest all starters)

No flu this week. I'm ready to get over .500!
VT
Nc State
Wisconsin
Syracuse
UNC
WVU
Alabama (I will never pick against them to not cover ever again. Tennessee cost me a 1500$ parlay last week)
Arkansas
Penn St
LSU

Going ahead and getting mine in to help the others know who not to take...

Hokies (Thursday night at home coming off a bad outing...perfect storm)

Louisville (extra time to prep and needs to RUTS)

Iowa (flipped a coin...don't like this game at all)

Syracuse (wrong team is favored)

Cheaters (high-scoring affair and UVA's QB can't be trusted to throw the ball to the correct team)

WVU (Mountaineers one of the quiet undefeated teams lurking out there...I'll ride them at home against a TCU team who struggled to beat lowly Kansas on the road by 1 pt)

Texas A&M (an extra week off hopefully helps)

Arkansas (just too many pts here)

Ohio State (Penn State's defense isn't nearly as good as what the Buckeyes faced last week)

Ole Miss (Rebs have played everybody tough...think they'll do the same here - even if Fournette returns for the Bengals)

1)Miami
2)NCSt.
3)Wisconsin
4)Syracuse
5)UVA
6)WVA
7)Tx A&M
8)Arky Razorthroats
9)Penn St(tough to pick, because Urban Meyer can throttle dust through dental floss...look as his record at OSU).
10)Ole Missy

VT - Turkey Buzzards feast on these Thursday night home games, and something has gone horribly wrong with Miami's offense as of late.
NC State - Vegas hasn't been giving enough respect to this team, and continues to do so. The Pack are capable of winning this straight up.
Wisconsin - The Badger's defense travels well and that should be good enough to cover the field goal plus a half.
Syracuse - I still don't know how last week happened, but it's the only accomplishment of note by either of these teams this season. Getting points here seems weird.
North Carolina - I look for the Cheaters to put up a similar amount of offense as Pitt did against UVA, and recently the heels have shown flashes of playing a little defense.
West Virginia - TCU's defense is down this year.
Alabama - I came away from the A&M-Tennessee game feeling that the Vols were the better football team, and they had no shot against the Tide. Alabama makes a statement here.
Arkansas - I'm not seeing the 9.5 point difference the line maker is seeing on this one. I'm probably missing something, but too lazy to dig it up. Unanimous pick candidate?
Ohio State - The Buckeye offense is very capable of hitting the half century mark against Penn State.
Ole Miss - A very good Ole Miss team bounces back in this spot with a victory - getting points is much appreciated insurance.

Discrimination!

You're starting to hurt my feelings now.

OTOH, I hope you're not actually betting your picks.

OK, here goes:
VPI -5
NCSU +20
Wisconsin -3.5
Syracuse +5.5
UNC -7.5
WVU -5.5
TAMU +16.5
Arky +9.5
tOSU -19.5
LSU -5.5

Discrimination? I like to call it trying to make this board great again.

As far as your feelings being hurt. I suggest you spend some time at Bobby Knight's School of Hurt Feelings for a weekend. Guest speakers include Ratface, Paul Johnson, and Dr. Phil. Get used to being called "Buttercup" a lot.

Oh, and I hope you aren't betting your picks either. I know I'm not. Mine or yours.

:p

I went ahead and pulled the trigger on these:

NCSU +20 -110
NCSU +850
Ole Miss +190

That might be it for me this week.

I don't like the card this week much at all. Only CFB game I'm playing is Thursday night with the Hokies laying 6.

I like the NFL much better this week.

Same here, that's why I think I'm done (and not going big on any of those BTW). I don't play the NFL much because it's not for me, but I have hit on both my NFL plays this year. Those were betting against MY Dolphins ATS @ the Bengals, and catching them to win at +275 against the Steelers on Sunday (based on O-line being intact for the first time).

Navy is getting 3 pts at home against Memphis. Navy blew out Memphis at Memphis last year.

Hmmm....

Yeah, that one is interesting. After hitting Houston on the moneyline vs OU, I made a promise to myself to play Navy on the moneyline when Houston visited Annapolis. I reneged on that promise and now live to regret it. I'm not sure who to hate in this circumstance. But I do feel hate.

VPI
NCState
Wisc
Cuse
UNC
UWV
Bama
Auburn
OSU
LSU

Buzzforlife looks like the upset specialist again this week. Cheers!!!

Cheers to you gents. as I make my way back down to earth for the traditional 2-8.

BFL, Jr. studying again. Not physics, physical education of selections. He's like the NCAA Committee on March Madness. Thanks for your patience!

OK, so I over reacted. No hurt feelings. However, it is instructive how metrics are being skewed these days. (ahem...) Must be related to that certificate from the Clinton School of Honesty hanging on your wall.

This is, indeed, a rather boring set of games this weekend. However, to quote a master chessman... "it is what it is."

BFL, Jr.
------------

Va. Tech Hokies, win 37-30.
Louisville Cardinals, win 56-28.
Wisconsin Badgers, 36-30.
Syracuse Orangemen, straight up 27-21.
North Carolina Tar Heels, cover 49-28.
West Va. Mountaineers, 42-35.
Texas A.&M. Aggies, straight up 49-43.
Auburn Tigers, cover it 40-30.
Ohio St. Buckeyes, 49-28.
L.S.U. Bengal Tigers in the Den, 35-28.

Dad says I'm done so stick a fork in them. Thanks.

Good news for Boston College. We are unanimous on Syracuse getting 5.5 at BC.

;)

And the evidence that led us all to that direction is skimpy - one game in the Carrier Dome that could very well be a fluke. Feels like a sucker bet. I'm also feeling like Arky +9.5 is a sucker bet. I steer clear of lines like that with real monopoly money.

No, I liked what I saw out of their offense in previous games, In fact I took a chance they'd cover earlier in the year when they didn't. IMO Syracuse is improving as this season goes along. We will see in a few days if that's true.

Buzzforlife tries to pick up a stroke on the entire field tonight as he was the only one going with the Fighting Spray Tanners getting 6 at Blacksburg.

Coincidentally, I'll be driving down I-81 and passing the Blacksburg exit later today about an hour before 7pm kickoff en route to Charlotte accompanying my daughter for her first big job interview tomorrow in hopes of landing a position before graduating in December. Fingers crossed. Rock Horns

At least you're going against the madness on the way down. Tim Kaine is in Charlotte today, but any extra traffic they create should be gone long before you get to her house. Hopefully she gets the job and has that head start, also relieving Dad and Mom of worry with student debt payments.

Rooting for you, far more than Richt. Five points can be a lot if VPI is on a downturn.

Let me preface this message by saying I'm fully aware that our chances of representing the Coastal Division in the ACCCG at Orlando are miniscule. And, "miniscule" may be more than reality. Having said that, our best - perhaps only - miniscule chance is to 1) sweep our remaining ACC games (mandatory) and 2) finish in a 3-way tie at 5-3 with the Cheaters and Hokies (both remaining on our schedule).

Having said that, we obviously must take care of our own business first and foremost to even sniff this miniscule chance. After that, we need a LOT of help in other games. Miami still has to travel to NC State and Virginia (where they've historically played poorly at SSS). And, they host a dangerous Pitt team, though we need the Panthers to lose too. I'm undecided as to which team winning tonight helps us most in this miniscule endeavor. Hence, I will just listen on the radio and see how it unfolds.

I expect the Turkey Buzzards to win at home, which will set Spray Tan Boy closer to 4 ACC losses. They are 1-2 heading into this game. A Hokies win moves them to 3-1 with the following games left... at Pitt, at Duke, GT, UVA.

you know, any of that miniscule endeavor would be nice. But at this point I don't really care about that. I just want GT to handle its own games and win the games they should, avoid stupid mistakes in the others and give themselves a chance to win out. They could do it with focus and execution.

Agree 100%. Finishing 7-5/4-4 would be nice at this point. Would exceed my expectations. Finishing 8-4 would be incredible. Means at minimum one of my trips to Chapel Hell or Blacksburg includes a happy ride home.

Regardless of record, winning 2 days after Turkey Day will make me all tingly inside. BANANA DANCE

Louisville up 44-0 over the Pack at the half. Who saw *THAT* coming? WOW!

Safe to say, UofL has been motivated by their relatively small margin of victory over Duke their last time out while the Pack apparently left its game in Clemson and is experiencing a hangover of sorts as stech81 predicted in his picks this week.

Just...WOW!

Louisville's Lamar Jackson today...

355 yds passing, 3 TD passes, 76 yds rushing, 1 TD rushing... 431 yds total offense + 4 TD's

That's a good day. Heisman favorite?

We hit our first unanimous pick of the season with Syracuse getting pts at BC. In all 3 unanimously-picked games, the underdog has won outright.

stech81 is on a roll so far going 4-0 in the Thursday + 3 early games.

I think stech81 is doing good :)

You know you've arrived when you refer to yourself in 3rd person. Well, GTJT622 thinks so at least.

;)

OK, here goes:
VPI -5 - yep
NCSU +20 - nope (yikes NCSU!)
Wisconsin -3.5 yep
Syracuse +5.5 yep
UNC -7.5 yep

4-1 so far...

WVU -5.5 (still playing, but yep)
TAMU +16.5 (still playing - close)
Arky +9.5 (still playing - looking bad)
tOSU -19.5 (no action yet)
LSU -5.5 (no action yet)

Meh...

I just knew that one (or both) of Syracuse / Arkansas was a sucker bet. I count myself lucky to get out of that mess at 1-1. Quadrupled down on Ole Miss at +290. +290??? that is ridiculous value right there.
