NIL numbers for players have increased significantly, how have the dynamics changed now with some players making as much or more as their position coach?

KQ- Well here that is certainly not an issue and it really isn't at the places paying more than GT does save for a few guys like Quinn Ewers or someone really marketable. We aren't quite there yet overall, but I'm sure it changes the dynamic a little just having some money overall. Most of these kids have never had their own money to speak of so that is a unique challenge regardless of if you think there is a power dynamic or not within the staff/player relationship.

NFL Draft Discussion

Draft starts tomorrow, so I figured I'd start a thread.

I'm not a huge draft junkie by any means, however I decided to mess around with a simulator on profootballnetwork.com

The results of the first 7 picks were interesting....
C. Williams
D. Maye
JJ McCarthy
M. Harrison
B. Bowers
M. Nabers
O. Fashanu

With the Falcons up, I still had Jayden Daniels, Joe Alt, and Dallas Turner available. I feel like ATL needs to take Turner, period. But if Daniels is available, do you trade back (keeping in mind the Bears are directly after you and already drafted a QB, so they might grab Turner with the next one (not sure what their strategy is so I could be wrong here, but it's still a gamble). The Jets are after Chicago so you'd think they would take Daniels, but they might not feel the need to trade up to do so if they don't think ATL or Chicago would draft him.

What's the pick/action in this scenario?

OT: Falcons are a joke

You just lost picks next year for tampering, signed Cousins, who left Minnesota because he didn’t want to play mentor, to a 4 year deal, and then you draft a 24 year old qb with 2 ACL injuries with the 8th pick in the first round when he graded out as a late 1st or early 2nd round pick. You need defense, could have gotten Bowers, a Center, a WR….but no, you got cute and showed how terrible you really are to everyone. The guy was a great college qb, but there is no way in hell the Falcons needed Penix Jr over other available options. He wasn’t close to BPA either, so you can’t lean on that excuse.

The GM, the Coach and the owner should all step away from football.

(OT) college choices

I’m always curious to see which colleges are the “popular” choices these days. My daughter is a freshman at Marist and we were counting (loosely) where the members of the senior class are attending school. A few surprises:

We only saw 1 person going to Clemson. That used to be a very popular choice locally.

26 uga
13 or 14 gt
17 auburn
Next highest tier was bama, fsu, Kentucky and I think ole miss. Ole miss seems to be gaining favor locally. If were a teenage boy, I don’t really blame them with that choice.

Last year the flavor of the month was the Vols.

When I was in school (large public school in metro area) the five top choices were auburn fsu Clemson uga and gt (we actually had 40+ go to tech).

What is everyone else saying and sorry to distract from the butker commencement speech!

Official EA Sports College Football 25 Thread

For those of us who grew up playing this game and those who might be a bit younger who also may have played it towards the end, thanks to the new NIL era, the game is back! This is by far the best thing to come out of NIL haha, but seriously it is the sort of thing that embodies the spirit of the legislation allowing college athletes to be compensated for their name, image and likeness. In fact that term was derived from the EA Sports games, which used image and likeness of players, stopping short of putting their actual names in the game. As many of you know, Ed O’Bannon from UCLA and a Nebraska QB (Eric Crouch) were some of the big names who filled a lawsuit against EA that effectively killed the game….Until now! Actually July 19 is the release date:

But to some of us, this is a big moment to see this game come back. I understand many might not care. But I wanted to start a thread for those of us who do to share news, thoughts about the current release as well maybe some stories about playing the older versions dating back all the way to the Sega Genesis.

I’ll start with one, who will be the cover athletes? Per EA, they are picking one from each power conference (including AAC) and each player has a different position. That seems to hurt Haynes King’s chances given Shadeur Sanders, Jalen Milroe, Carson Beck, Ewers, etc. But he’s got my vote. Anyway, fire away if this topic hits home with you as it did for me!
