FOOTBALL
Ron West will be named the new assistant offensive line coach as early as next week once paperwork has been processed. That should be the end of assistant coaching changes heading into the 2016 season. West will coach on the offensive side of the ball since 2003 at Clemson. The hope is he can help with pass protection and ideas on how defenses attack the offense to help with some counterattack from the base packages. He will coach OTs. West has been a strong recruiter with ties all over the south so he should help in that regard.
Dante Wigley isn't the only Jacket to leave the program. R-SO OG Gary Brown has hung up his cleats and is going back to Tampa. Brown no longer wants to play football and he wants to pursue his dream of being a cartoonist (yes it sounds ridiculous). CMS, CPJ and the players tried to talk some common sense into Brown, but he is unhappy with school at GT and homesick. I would expect either Trey Klock or Will Bryan to slide inside to guard in spring ball to replace Brown who was projected as the starting LG.
Marcus Allen despite reports elsewhere has not informed the staff that he is leaving. At this time he is expected at the team meeting tomorrow night and to compete at B-back in spring ball.
I fully expect Georgia Tech's medical staff to red flag Jaylend Ratliffe and not clear him next week when he gets on campus. I would be SHOCKED if he is allowed to play football. He cannot play QB so he would be working somewhere on the defense if he is cleared.

FOOTBALL RECRUITING
The focus will be on linemen on both sides as well as DBs for the remaining spots and QB, GT may take two QBs and move one to another position.
The second QB would be Deshaunte Jones more than likely and he will visit on the 22nd. I expect Jay Jones to commit to GT on his visit next week while Lucas Johnson will wait to make any decision until after his SDSU visit Jan 22.
CTR pushed really hard on Baylen Buchanan without a great backup plan in place. Tenn got the commit flip then Ohio State has offered so that ship has sailed far, far away. Deshaunte Jones could play CB so that would help and Jarett Cole could play there as well probably. Safety is the bigger concern with Daniel Thomas and Arkeem Byrd (Tenn lean) unlikely to end up at GT. 4-star Romeo Finley is still in play, but Clemson is lurking if they lose one of their prime time guys and that could be a problem.
DT wise GT is focused on Brandon Adams (Vandy commit) and Michail Carter (UGA lean), I think they need to focus on a third target, but Adams they have a good shot with. UGA would have to hit some home runs not to take Carter, but they have a lot of recruiting momentum right now. Andrew Tarver (FIU commit) from McEachern is a good backup plan guy they could get.
DE wise Jordan Woods is really the only target and they have a good shot at him as well. Miami isn't interested in taking him right now.
Offensive line wise, Dylan Powell ain't coming to GT, that leaves Donavaughn Campbell, UNC commit Tyler Pritchett and Jahaziel Lee (ULL commit and Campbell's teammate) as the top guys on the board right now.
That's all I got, more will become clear as West's hire is official and so forth next week hopefully. Coaches can go on the road starting Thursday.
