The 3-0 Volleybees got things off to a super start this past weekend over at Clemson Without A Lake winning 9 of 11 sets/games. The competition will ramp up quite a bit as CMC tests her team intelligently early in the season against NCAAT-caliber teams. The schedule at Kansas State for this weekend...
Friday, 8:30pmET, Gametracker: vs Tennessee State (4-0)
The Tigers also got off to a great start in the state of Alabama this past weekend as they swept all 4 matches. Tech will be their toughest test to date, perhaps by far. This will be the first meeting between the 2 programs.
Saturday, 11amET, Gametracker: vs Michigan (3-0)
The Wolverines won their own Invitational this past weekend. They are coming off a NCAAT appearance from a season ago that saw them win a first round match, but were eliminated in the Round of 32. Michigan faces host, K-State, on Friday night at 6pmET before Tech's match against TSU. Tech is 0-3 vs the Wolverines all-time having lost 3-0 at Hell in 2005, 3-2 at Ann Arbor in 2007, and 3-2 at Tech in 2008.
Saturday, 8:30pmET, ESPN-3: at Kansas State (2-1)
The host Wildcats are coming off a superb trip to the University of Hawaii as part of the Wahine Invitational. They defeated Arizona in their first match and then followed by defeating the #6 host Rainbows before losing their final match against #2 Wisconsin. Like Michigan, K-State is coming off a NCAAT appearance a year ago. This will be a huge test for the Jackets on K-State's home court. Note, I haven't seen confirmation at the K-State Athletics site yet, but will continue to check and post in reply confirmation regarding the ESPN-3 live streaming designation. When you go to WatchESPN/ESPN-3 site and look at the Upcoming Schedule, this match is listed as being streamed live via ESPN-3. Tech's official athletics website is as usual useless. Tech is 2-1 all-time vs KSU having won 3-1 in Tampa in 2002, lost 3-0 in Denver in 2010, and won 3-1 at Tech in 2011.
Will try to update with Gametracker & ESPN-3 links via reply as best as possible as drawing nearer to game time. If the Volleybees can return to Atlanta with 2 wins while out in Manhattan, that is a terrific weekend (IMO).
