This week with the Lady J's

Another cupcake in this early season tonight vs Alabama State (5pm, WREK). Hopefully Coach Jo and team learned a lot from their miserable performance at the Stegasaurus two days ago.

The team flies (I assume) on Wednesday to Cancun to play two games. Don't drink the water, Beesball Richard!!!

Thursday: vs Northern Iowa, 9pm
Friday: vs High Point 6:30pm

UNI is 2-1 on the season with 2 soft wins and their loss was by 15 against Iowa. High Point is 1-3 on the season so far having lost by 41 at NC State and by 50 at Maryland.

Tech should - and I stress "should" - come back from Mexico with a 6-1 record prior to heading to Indiana next week as part of the ACC-Big 10 Challenge thingy. That's nice, but we will have only played 1 decent team in our first 7 and we lost big in that one (final margin really wasn't indicative of how dominant the Cesspool was...or perhaps how bad we were actually). To get to another 20-win season, the Jackets can't afford any slip-ups in this relatively soft pre-ACC schedule.

The ACC schedule will of course hit us like a ton of bricks with 3 of our first 4 on the road. But, that is then and this is now. Let's get 3 this week, Lady J's! Starting tonight.

Looking forward to getting Zaire back at the start of 2016. We are missing her driving, spinning, must get to the hole mentality. Her size, toughness, helps too!

Once again poor shooting was our downfall in Athens. We also need to get much better on defense before the start of ACC play. Give the team credit for not quitting. The second half was much more competitive. Too bad we had dug ourselves too big of a hole in the second quarter. On the way out of the arena, a UGA fan stopped me and asked if they could make a trade to get Kat away from us. I'm looking for a big year out of her. The Cancun games are going to be streamed online, right? Let's take care of business this week and go into Coach Jo's home state on a winning streak.

Martine Fortune started her first game. Foul trouble led to only 19 minutes, 4 points, 4 rebounds.

Not really a game, comfortable lead all the way through.

Glad that Gari was sitting up at the end. Probably precautionary not to put her back in with a "fall on the back of the head, while hitting the floor".

Duke won, no surprise. NCSt and Seton Hall coming up....the live streaming is clear and no fees.

27-26 The Hall at the half. On schedule to end at 8:30 or a little after. Jackets should be loosening up and shooting in the rangefinders about an hour from now.

Well, that was a miserable 2-hour experience. Lady J's look awful. Go down by 3 to Northern Iowa. Going to be a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong season it appears.

Looks like you are stationed across from the GT bench in a sporty shirt? Hope they filled your glass tonight.

20-pt win and some good experience in the 4Q for some of the reserves. Good to see. This team needs to improve in a big way to have any chance of making any noise in the ACC...or even just hold our own.

Next game Wednesday at Indiana. Not going to pay the subscription fee for Big 10 Plus live streaming. I guess I'll have to settle for that Mexican Riviera Turkey Day Boy, Beesball Richard via WREK. Going from Cancun to Indiana...what a difference!

It's more or less two tournaments here. A four-team round robin with Duke playing three different opponents in the morning/early afternoon games. Then the six team group with us and NC State playing two games each against the other four teams. Don't know about the two game vs. three game decision but I do know we were booked for just the two games from the start when we signed on for this trip a year ago.

No waiters coming by tonight. Have to go get something for myself now. Thanks for tuning in!
