Let's hope this upcoming week is a lot better than last week. Last week's "highlights":
  • Lady J's schedule was released. Some updates to the MBB schedule were released as well.
  • The Volleybees lose at Kennesaw State...ugh!
  • Notre Dame dominates the Jackets.
  • Not following fall tennis myself, but some exhibition matches took place somewhere.
  • The BasketJackets got a nice 4* power forward commitment which brightened that program's complexion in a nice way.
This upcoming week...

  • The Volleybees open ACC play at Clemson Friday, Sep. 25, at 7pm in a match which will be streamed live via ESPN-3. On the one hand, a 9-3 pre-ACC record by the VBee's is pretty good compared to the last few seasons. For reference, we were 6-6 thru 12 matches the last 2 seasons. But, the KSU loss reminds us just how young (and perhaps fragile) this team remains. Kennesaw State is a good team with a good record and was playing at home. But, still. No excuse in losing there and looking as bad as we did. Clemson is 5-7 on the season. The last 3 seasons, Tech has split with Clemson with each team wining at home. The last time Tech won at Clemson was 6 seasons ago (2009) which also is the last time we made the NCAAT.
  • The Volleybees return home 2 days later to host Boston College, who is 8-4 on the young season. That match starts on Sunday at 1pm and will also be streamed live via ESPN-3. If the V-Bee's can get a W at Clemson Friday night, this match provides a chance to start the ACC schedule 2-0. Since BC joined the ACC, Tech has hosted the Eagles every season and is a perfect 10-0 over BC at O'Keefe. And, the V-Bee's are 16-2 overall over BC since BC joined the ACC.
  • The Football Jackets travel to Duke to visit new remodeled Wallace Wade Stadium in a noon affair on ESPN-2. Division games are always very important. Both teams will be reeling a bit from disappointing losses. Just have to avoid allowing the last loss add to another one this week.
  • We should find out later today the time/TV/etc. for the UNC game on Oct. 3rd on Grant Field.
  • Some schools are starting to release their beesball schedules for next spring. The Cesspoolians did so a couple of weeks ago, for example. The release date of Tech's beesball schedule the last few years came on these dates:
    • Oct. 14, 2014
    • Oct. 3, 2013
    • Oct. 12, 2012
    • Sep. 29, 2011
    • Oct. 21, 2010
  • So, we are probably at least a couple of weeks away based on recent history.

You are the man, JT!
Thanks for all of the updates and having/sharing those practical insights into our programs.

Just when I thought a power sled and a DVD movie making machine, might be the only finds on here this morning!

We are trying to rent a car cheaply from a friend (who has a used lot)of a friend to take up to Duke this weekend. Thinking of stopping off at Clemson or Greenville or wherever the Volleybees have to play them at. Awaiting DRads email since he has been consulting with me on all the orange and purple projects with the temporary arenas involved. Seriously though, before he got there the Women's events were free. At the Men's Basketball games they would pass out tickets to the Lady Tigers games. I might have to pay now because of all the infrastructural improvements. Dan the other man.
