This literally gave me chills... tribute to Al Ciraldo joining Atlanta Sports HoF

I would pick up my phone at work, and hear that booming voice call me by name. Usually for a lunch invite. Sent chills down my spine. How many people do you know with the guts to call an IRS office in Criminal Investigation?

When a dear friend of ours went to prison for "bookmaking", Big Al was the only person connected with Tech that genuinely cared or gave me anything to bring to him. A friend in need, he was a friend indeed. Most had the excuse of losing their job or reputation could be tarnished. He had b a l l _ of steel. God rest his soul on the gold cloud.

As Al so deservedly went in to the Hall of Fame last night, many stories crossed through this feeble mind that occupies those memories.

Him climbing that metal ladder outside the old Alexander to get to his high above perch while it was thunder and lightning in the sky, before A C C days/nights took place. Waiving to the students, band members, when they said hello Al before the games. He could be on the air or taping, didn't matter. You could bring a newbie to meet him, gave them a paper lanyard to sit nearby or on the floor. Once a crippled child at Shriners wanted a doll. I saved to get her an expensive Raggedy Ann one, however she kept wanting the Energizer Bunny. Mr. C not only went to Eveready to pick up that huge pink monster with the drum attached, he delivered it in person.
