The Good. I actually liked the offensive change of getting to the line quickly and think it helped some. We held the Miami running game in check especially Walton. Kaaya was good, but not great and it looked like we got some pressure with just four at certain times. Can't figure out how the defense looks great on one series and just gets torched the next. We played better than we did against Clemson offensively. Rocket toss seemed to be a good play and some of the misdirection almost broke loose a couple times. Special Teams have been consistently good all year except PR sometimes and this continued.
The Bad. Defense can't get off the field in first drive. We play off receivers, but still can't prevent the big play like the slant pass. Miami receivers are big step down from Clemson. Run fits were an issue sometimes like the TD run. On offense, we missed lots of blocks, especially in key situations. JT has no pocket awareness. Dropped passes really hurt. We got behind the chains too much for this offense. If you are going to huddle at LOS, you can't let the clock get down to below 5 seconds as this allowed UM to blitz successfully - have to change it up. Really thought the Refs missed several UM holding calls and one possible interference.
The Ugly. Those two fumbles or whatever they were returned for TD. I don't know if I have ever seen two in a row like that. Sometimes, it is ok to just have a negative play.
I think Pitt is a good team and next week really will determine what we are going forward. This was a winnable game and we let them have it.
