While there are still a lot of skewed numbers based on who has played good or bad competition so far, I normally don't even start looking at the national stats until around the midway point of the season. Well, here we are. FWIW below (and most are not surprising)...

Source: http://www.cfbstats.com/2015/national/index.html

Offense Focused
  • Points per game: 38.5 - 18th (highly skewed obviously by our first 2 games)
  • Rushing Yds per game: 271.7 - 9th
  • Passing Rating/Efficiency: 143.4 - 39th (yds per game is useless as a stat to follow for us)
  • Total offense yds per game: 404.0 - 65th
  • 3rd down conversions: 31.1% - 120th (amazing!)
  • Red Zone TD %: 80.0% - 3rd (can we get there more often please?...also perhaps skewed from 1st 2 games)
  • 10+ yard plays from scrimmage: 84 - 52nd (note, last year we finished 15th in the nation)
Defense Focused
  • Points allowed per game: 26.8 - 72nd (very disappointing with 7 seniors starting)
  • Rushing yds per carry allowed: 4.95 - 104th (absolutely pathetic!)
  • Passing Rating/Efficiency Defended: 117.7 - 51st
  • Yards per play allowed: 5.7 - 80th (last year we finished at 6.3 and 111th nationally...but this year's numbers include 33% of our games so far against cupcakes)
  • Tackles for loss per game: 5.17 - 93rd (very disappointing)
  • Opponent 3rd down conversion: 36.6% - 62nd
Special Teams
  • Punt returns yds per attempt: 12.7 - 34th (this was better than I expected)
  • KO returns yds per attempt: 18.8 - 100th (seems like forever since we were a threat in this segment of the game)
  • FG conversion: 66.7% - 79th (Butker has missed some very makeable kicks...remains inconsistent)
Entire Team
  • Penalties per game: 2.7 - 1st (this has definitely been a bright spot...also lead in penalty yds per game at 24.7)
  • TO margin per game: +0.83 - 20th (you'd think if you were winning the TO margin, we'd be doing better than we are)
  • Time of possession: 33:06.00 - 12th (a useless statistic to me, but thought I'd put it here as FYI...the fact we are 12th in the nation in TOP and look like crap at the halfway point kind of supports the uselessness of the measurement)

Only telling stat is wins and losses. And we need to work on that one.

Amen, brotha! Preach it!! It is bottom-line thinking like this which has moved you quickly up the org chart to 3rd shift Quality Control technician at the local brewery.

Is that 3rd shift QCT, or does he get three shirts every shift? I'm envious, only received three shirts to be the Courtesy Officer in the Extended Stay Motel!

GT hasn't gotten into the redzone much during the last 4 games, so that stat is basically the same as it was after game 2.

I'm just glad I didn't spell it "shart"...though that may be more appropriate when thinking about this season so far.

Thanks, mate. I'm too lazy to go look those numbers up. Makes sense as the first two games we were scoring at will outside the red zone. That damn endzone stopping us again and all. Oh my do I long for the 30 yards and cloud of dust offense to return. *SIGH*

Yes the 30 has change to 3 yards and a cloud of dust and grass in the facemask.
